Never heard of the inspection plates. Where exactly wud they be located?

The two covers, on the top of the frame:
Hahaha. Glad u showed an illustration because I never heard of them being called the inspection plate. I have seen those and removed them already. The manual calls them air cleaners or air box covers. Calling them inspection plates through me off a little. LOL. Thanks
Be sure to read it through to the end, he made an error initially that he corrects. Good info and pics.

Preciate that, Shane! NinjaBoys mistake was my next question regarding the stock seals and whether or not I was suppose to use them. Other than that, the stacks were simple to install.

It's been a month since my last track day, and I had another go at the 8's today. I still came up a little short.
Bike #9200:
Best ET of the day, Bike #9200:
The air was pretty good today with a density altitude of around 1000 feet. I weighed in at 222 lbs. suited today; well above where I would like to be. I have about 6 weeks before the track closes for the winter, so I will hopefully have another go at it.
I'm pretty happy with the way I rode today. Consistency is very important to me, and I feel good about where my riding and ET's are headed. The bike ran pretty well, but I think I see some room for improvement there also.

So close Shane !!! Look at the 1/8 mile MPH 127 !! I can't come close to that number on my 09 ... All you need is a low 1.40 60 and it's 8s all day long .. Looking good Shane ..

Thanks Lee! I have been using the MR9 like a crack fiend lately.
When I had the bike on the dyno, the a/f was pretty fat all over, but especially under 5500 rpm. I know it can use a little fine tuning all over, for sure. Perhaps I will see even more mph then. My best, one-time mph today was 154.74...but I wasn't able to duplicate it. I ran qute a number of 152's, otherwise. I have not been able to find the "sweet spot" for my shift points.

Wheelbase is about 64.8" and gearing is 16/43. With a little more seat time I think I could get the 8's under similar track conditions. Going to the track just once a month makes it harder.

I think my bike is about 45 lbs. lighter than what Smokin's bike was in race trim. I am about 70 lbs. heavier than Lee, unfortunately

Shane, this article might be of interest to you regarding your burnout. According to this, you don't need to heat the sides of your tires. Yes it looks cool, but it might not be necessary.

When you start racing on a regular basis, I'm sure you will develop your own technique. Traction concerns aside, I bet you will find that the tire lasts longer when you don't just sit there and burn it down the middle all of the time.
When I drag raced my 12R at stock wheelbase, I only did about 5 burnouts total in my first 150 passes. I wonder how that fits into the conventional wisdom?

I second that. The Shinko tire lasts longer and builds center heat better when you heat the sides. As soon as the tire spins I put it on the sides and heat the center last. I get 200 passes out of tires and clutches most of the time.

Yesterday I dented my header pretty good. Not on a wheelie, either. There is a small 1" shoulder at the end of the track. I drifted off the little shoulder in the turnaround and it hit hard. Earlier it had scraped while doing a u-turn. The low profile oil pan drain bolt is still unscathed for now.

Yesterday's track day was at MIR at Jason Miller's Streetbike Seminar. I knew I got in a lot of passes with the open track, but I just counted the slips today:
36 passes! I made my first pass at 10 am, and my last at 5 pm. I could have easily gotten in 10 more had I wanted. The whole track day is normally $125, and that includes lunch. The seminars are over for this season, but here is the website:
Even if you don't need any instruction, it is a good deal for that amount of track time. MIR is a very well-prepped track. For those new to drag racing, there is a lot of instruction.
