are you planning on using the window switch for gear lock out activation? are you pulling your head and installing vavle springs?

No, I'm not planning to lock out 1st gear. I just want rpm and tps control.

I don't plan to install springs yet, but we'll see. It depends on how the season progresses, and how long before I even get a small shot on there. If I pull the head, I am going to want to do other things...and that could require a lot of downtime/$$.

if storage and weight are issues I'd look into the NOS mini. I had the schnitz 2 dial and I used the multi hub for my activation. I'm waiting to try my NOS mini setup this weekend

I'm going to stick with the Schnitz parts for now. Maybe down the line I will change. I need to get a grip on basic set up stuff, and I just purchased the Schnitz parts new.

You have the valve springs, right? Are you no longer using the Adam's spraybar?

I still have the adams bar just haven't installed it permanently yet. it seems to be very tempermental about bottle pressure. .016 jets will do 40 hp @ 800-900 psi, but will do 55hp @1100-1200 psi
valve springs are in route just not in a hurry to pull the motor

Would a pressure pro regulator help this?

Picked up a spare tank for LSR duty:

Got it for $75, with a little damage:

I'm not worried about the dent; I am having the tank cut down.

Weight, no cap, with sending unit:

14.3 lbs

I should be dropping this off at the machine shop next week.

Yes, I took the old gaskets out. But I might order new ones; they seem to get squashed kind of easily. I'd really rather make some rubber gaskets; the Kawaski design doesn't seem suitable for any airbox pressurization. I guess that is why they make special plates for turbo apps...

Yes, I have to get 5 bungs installed next week. 1 for the 02 and 4 for indidual egt's. Maybe I'll get everything working by next year.

I removed the Kleen system today. Here you can see how much room it takes up above the cylinder head area:

Here is all of the parts removed:

Replaced with these:

Much more room now:

I did extensive research on the "crankcase vacuum mod". I decided not to do it. My primary reasons were:

1) Affects my a/f for logging purposes

2) Minimal, if any, hp gain

Removing the Kleen system and associated hardware saves about 12 ounces in weight. You leave the reed valves in place when you do the mod. You would get the same effect by capping the existing covers, I believe. It would be cheaper and less time consuming (there is not much room to tighten the bolts).

You will also need to adjust your idle up a bit after the mod.

Shane,
Those orig access covers have that inverted pyramind shape molding.

With your flat replacement, do you think it will cause any air flow issues?

Maybe the origs 'break up' the air flow 'downwards', whereby with yours it's going to flow 'flat - across'.

With the sensor it wouldn't be hard to mount the sensor as per orig position. Or you might be wanting it out that area anyway.

Anyway, great write up and i enjoy keeping my eye on what you're up to.

I guess we'll see what happens. I don't think that total airflow is going to be an issue. I think the originals do a good job of acting as a structural component of the frame, and putting the air temp sensor down in the breeze, so to speak.

I do know of one other bike running flat plates, normally aspirated. That bike runs very good #'s at Maxton, so I suspect I will be fine.

Also, the spraybar and lines are likely to cause more issue than the plates. But I'm bringing my air in a bottle, so I should be ok.

How did you plug hole in the airbox? Was that what the circular piece in the kit was for? Thinking of the same modification.

I'm planning on some Ti bolts, maybe this winter. They are just very expensive for the weight savings you get.

Monthly weigh-in time. I'll let the picture speak for itself:

Goal Weight: 185 lbs.
Actual Weight: 196.7 lbs.

I have actually gained over 5 lbs. since last month. I knew this was not going to be good...I have been on a junk food kick for the last month. Tons of sodas, bacon cheesburgers, pizza...you name it. To be honest, I'm not feeling very motivated right now.

At this rate, I am likely to break the 200 lb. mark before I break 200 mph on the bike! Can I turn this around? I guess we'll see next month!!

Yeah, I agree. I've still lost 15 lbs. since February....but you never like to drift backwards! It all started with a 1/2 lb. Bacon Cheeseburger.....
