Monthly weigh-in time. Lasty month I didn't do too well, coming in 4.4 lbs. above my goal of 195. My goal for this month was 190...but I didn't plan on having to drop nearly 10 lbs. to do it! I Still, I'm happy with my progress:

Goal: 190 lbs
Actual: 191.4 lbs

That makes 20.5 lbs lost since 2/13/09. I'm 16.4 lbs from my goal weight of 175 lbs, and I have 3 months to achieve it.

Excellent job on the weight-loss! I'm down from 230lbs from a year ago. Stuck at 190lbs...went for a 14 mile hike in the NM mountains...sunburn-o-plenty! (still 190, 175 my goal as well).

I just got back from Maxton yesterday. It was a weekend of mixed results. The bike performed pretty well, considering the issues I had. My first pass was 190.2 mph, and that was my best of the weekend. A few gremlins to sort out, for sure.

I took the bike to a local shop today to get a baseline pull, to see what kind of power the bike was making at the track. The air at Maxton was not good this weekend, so I'm sure I was down a little from what the dyno says:

Mods were:

Shortmeg with Brock's Street Map
BMC Race Filter

Short video of a 6th gear pull to the limiter:

I'd like to thank Rick at RnR Cycles in Sterling, VA for taking the time to dyno the bike for me on his day off. Good guy to deal with.

More dyno pulls and tuning to come soon...

How many rpm (true rpm on the dyno - not the bike's rev counter) did you see at the engine rev limiter?

I thought about 10,800 from my own experience which is the figure I use to work out top speed gearing, I would be interested to know what you measured.

It looks to be about 10900 rpm. I'll know more soon...

ZX-14 Shock measures about 13", eye to eye. I measure the ZX-12R shock at about 13.25", eye to eye:

Hope this helps...

First (and best) pass at Maxton this weekend:

Pictures at speed:

I'm having some ergonomic problems with my tuck. I have a long torso, and I am having a hard time stretching out. Combine that with a natural curve in my back and you get some pretty ugly aero's. I have some ideas and will be making some changes to the bike before I take it to Maxton again.

As I said, I also had some mechanical gremlins. Mostly related to my shift light/gauge setup. On my first pass the shift light was going crazy as the bike presumably hopped over the bumps like a dirtbike!

I see you are forced way up on the seat backrest, as you were saying,
I would think you should be sitting on the frame rail right there to straighten out your back and get your shoulders lower and behind the screen more
...just a guess as you would know more about LSR than I.

I am up on the step, which is what it is made for...but my torso still needs more room. Right now I am really fighting the bike, ergo-wise. I am going to make some bike changes and also start doing some flexibility exercises so that I can hopefully fold my body like I could 10 years ago. My lower back is a problem these days....

Is there a handle bar set out there for the zx14 to allow longer reach?
Lower and forward?

I know the busa has that advantage in the ergos,
for a guy over 6 feet the more reach is great for a better tuck.

Great high speed pics BTW

I am looking at a few things including bars....in fact, I have been experimenting with clip-ons today. I am 6' 1" with a long torso. The Busa is a natural fit for me. I am going to take some comprehensive measurements to compare the two, and make adjustments where needed.

I am in a dificult spot, because what works for LSR might be pretty unfriendly for the dragstrip. You can't really optimize for both at the same time...

Shane, how about driven or vortex clip ons?
I had room to instal LSR clip ons on top before in place of the stockers, I reversed them for my shorter reach and comfort for 900 mile day long rides.
The gilles I have now are more adjustable in angle but interfere with the contour of the stock top clamp.

I would install them as designed in a heart beat if all I never street rode the bike, or was over 6 feet tall. That will get you about 2" further reach, and if you rotate them, and straighten them in a drag bar fashion you will get even more reach, except the end of the bars will be rotating outward into the airstream, reducing aero's.

I'm working on it man, I'm working on it!

There are some special clearance/construction considerations for LSR usage. Tech inspection is much more complete in that venue...

Shane do you have any pics on mouting your shift light? I was looking for other ideas for mounting. I catch myself looking to the left for the light then i pull the bike slightly left. I was thinking of putting it more center.

I'm afraid that my setup might not work too well for you....no other gauges at all!

This will be changed soon, and I may be selling the light as well. I think dubious had a central mounting location??

I had mine mounted on the top of the guages, You will need a double bubble to do it that way though.
I used the 2 bolts at the back of the guages to mount the modified msd shiftlight bracket.
I also stuck all of my PC3 and hub back there and left the usb cable hooked up for map changes.

I was thinking of a drag seat to get lower but looking at your images, I'm not so sure.
Maybe a cutaway tank to get my chest lower.

I thought the only way it would go on top was with a double bubble. Ill have to figure out something else i really dont care for the double bubbles. Still waiting on it to get back from MSD and see what they found wrong with it.

How about a longer bolt and bushing, and mount it from the clip-on bolts?
