When is the baffle coming out of the short-meg? I thought everything was in the name of weight reduction.

Although it may seem that "everything was in the name of weight reduction", that's really just part of the equation. I'm actually in a holding pattern...now that it is on the road I have a lot more things to focus on.
But I'm sure it won't be long before I want to try it without the baffle.

I temporarily installed the bodywork, just to check clearances:

Everything seems to have adequate clearance for the track, but with it sitting so low it is tough getting that lower cowl on!

I just got back from an 80 mile street ride. The bike performed very well. It wasn't even that uncomfortable...considering I was riding on a sheet of fiberglass! The wheels and other lost weight make the bike turn very easily. Surprisingly so, for a 63"+ bike!
I stopped by "Shiphteey's" shop and we put the bike on the scale. With about 3 gallons of gas, the bike weighed 462 lbs. I have about another 4 lbs. of parts to install. But, I was carrying almost 10 lbs. of extra weight in fuel! So, it looks like I might come in under 460 lbs, race-ready.
It's nice to see the efforts start to pay off! It felt great cruising around today.

I think he's just happy it had 3 gallons of gas...if it had come in at 455 lbs, he probably would have puked.
I'm anxious to lose my remaining weight, and shed a little more off of the bike. I should be looking at close to 25 lbs. more reduction, between bike and rider. Now I see why the lightweight guys can make these bikes fly. The difference is like night and day.

You guys are too funny!
The bike is quite rough looking in person, with the mix of oem paint and rust-o-leum.
But I guess it looks kind of "purposeful"...

Shane, great job with the project..............but I think lookwise i'd like it better if you put the black OEM clutch cover back on and powder coated the exhaust black.............for an all black bad ass look.

But you're ok with the scratched up $4 rattle can paint job?
In all seriousness, the looks aren't really a big priority for me right now. To do any powerdercoat or ceramic coating takes weeks of downtime. I'm more interested in riding it and testing some parts.
Maybe in the winter I'll think about improving the looks... there is a lot of work to be done there. Right now it is very functional.

I don't know, Scott. I haven't had it up to get checked. I suspect I may have to add one. I have the parts here to do it. Fortunately it was sunny and clear when I took it out.
Thanks for your concern.

A ticket for no lights is a non moving violation and does Not go against your driving record.
They usually just write you for the lights and blow off you were speeding :-)
I use to cruise my Race Bike on the street just to get out on it. Figured a non moving ticket was worth it $50.00 and had big fun. Take the wife to the movies, I spend more than $50.00

I've had the bike for about a year...so, I think it's time for a montage...
Show a lot of things happing at once,
Remind everyone of what’s going on (what’s going on?)
And with every shot you show a little improvement
To show it all would take to long
That’s called a montage (montage)
Oh we want montage (montage)

Although at times I've felt pretty lazy, it seems I've done quite a bit since I started this thread last July!
