Secondaries Removed

I just took my secondaries out, can I take my t.r.e out and get my gear indicator back? The TRE was opening the flies earlier giving a 6th gear map in every gear correct? so with flies out, I should no longer need the tre? someone please reassure me

You no longer need the TRE but you do need a Power Commander to prevent a very lean condition at lower RPM's. You just added a ton of air. Now you need to add fuel. Your bike will run smoother and have more power low down.

Add 16/43's and then you'll see what instant power is...but hold on tight, because it'll rip yer fucking shoulders right out of your sockets...and break your back if you're not expecting it. You'll never ride that Busa again and you'll never go back to stock gearing.

BTW, one of the things I did notice on my 06 and my 08, is that in the higher gears, there is always a slight delay until the power kicks in on this engine, unless you load it 1st (same as my Connie)...and that's with or without my 4 degree advance on the ignition timing (which by the way, makes it pull even harder!)

throw the tre in the trash... it does nothing for you if you've removed the flies.

Well got the bike out last night. First time with no flies. I been riding a long time. My first bike was a brand new 1986 honda hurricane 1000. Bought a new bike every 2-4 years since 1986 and i gotta say it actually scared me a little. I was on a long sweeper exiting the interstate, barely twisted the throttle in second gear and it instantly took the weight off the front. I did take the TRE off and got my gear indicator back. 1st gear at 2500 rpm's, if u whack the throttle it wheelies at 2500 rpm's no clutch up just throttle. thats unheard of lol but i gotta say i like it. Kawasaki definitely put the secondaries in as a safety issue. Remove them and damn she comes to life.

I did the same thing. I sold the tre on ebay after having it for a day. I didnt having the gear indicator on 6. I had a earlier post wondering if having the timing retarded (without the tre) was a bad thing.

Those flies being removed are a world of a difference. I can't seem to keep the front wheel on the ground. Im deciding right now if I would need a steering damper but otherwise its insane. Decel pop is to a minimal and it doesn't bother me. It's the best thing i could have ever done to a motorcycle. I included a full exhaust and it was such a difference with the weight loss as well. It is as if I had bought a new bike.

I rode for months w/o the flies or PC...........AF gauge showed it survivable.

I later put a resistor in the GPS and it stays in N now.........easy tuning.
With the 16/43 and no flies it freakin' hauls.......

You are correct sir...the VF1000R....a big V4. In fact, I happen to own an '85 with some choice 1986 pieces:

A friend of mine restored one of those Honda's and its a BEAST. Its incredible riding that bike, I wasn't expecting half the power or handling performance out of such an old V4 bike!
