I have seen some folks double stack risers....but I don't know how safe that is.
I think I seen a picture on a forum with a set of dirt bike style bars mounted on a 14.

With my 3/4" risers I had to rotate the resevoir to keep it from hitting the fairing. I wouldn't think that taller ones would work. Combine the 3/4" risers with some johar street grooves extra thick grips and possibly a set of buell pegs and it might put the bike somewhere around where you want it. I didn't have lowered pegs, but the risers and grips really helped on my trip.

Genmar makes 1" risers. Thats as high as you can go without changing the brake line. Beyond that you can buy the kit from Spiegler, which changes the top triple clamp, and brake lines and allows you to put regular bars on the bike. There are several threads on this board with pictures of the Spieglers.
I had the risers, and they give a slighly more relaxed ride, but I switched to the Spiegler set up, and love it.

I run the 3/4" Heli Riser. I don't really notice the difference around town much other than my head and neck feel moer upright and therefore more alert to traffic around me.
On the highway, and I put on a lot of highway miles. I've noticed great improvement. They're low enough for ducking behind the visor, and high enough to make the long straights more tolerable.
If I totaled my 14 and replaced it with a new one, I'd buy the risers again for sure.

I was thinking the very same thing. I stood a ruler upright on my desk and looked at where 3/4" falls and I was thinking "That's it? That's all I get?"

Don't kid your self. The Heli Risers make a big difference. So much so that I thought they were too high and sold them. They can't make them taller without hitting the windscreen. Get a touring bike if you want to sit THAT upright.
Due to the angle of the forks it also means that they move the bars back slightly. They sell on E-bay for almost as much as they cost new so try a set. If you don't like them, sell them. You are not going to get anything taller without spending lot's of money.

If not E-bay 'em. No harm no foul. :P

Don't waste your money. They worked so well the guy sold them remember. I had a pair on my bike and they made absolutely no difference!!! 3/4 of an inch is nothing!!! Try Converti Bars. They work and are nicer looking than the stock bars. I can post pics of mine if you like. Just ask.

Hey Turbo... decide to buy another 14? What did you do with the Vmax?
The helibars can be double stacked. I realized after i bought a set and put on my bike that the previous owner had already put a set on as well. I rode mine from Paris Texas to san diego California with them double stacked.

Just put mine on (that I bought from a member here). They are a slight but very noticeable difference. It's amazing what 3/4" can do! My back feels more relaxed and my hands take alot longer to start going numb (carpal tunnel is a bitch). I held off getting them for over a year because I didnt think they would be worth the money, and was worried they would affect the handling. Actually, they seem to make low speed handling (a huge shortcoming on the 14) alot easier to do.
Of course, I'm 6'5" so a big gain for me might not be noticeable for all you members of the short mens club!

I think it was a well spent $70.
They relieved some of the pressure on my wrists.
If you got deep pockets the Speigler triple clamp set up is very sano. I'm turning my track day 14 into a supersport touring rig and willbe making a adapter plate for bar clamps.
Converti bars look like cheesy crap to Me. I'd rather adapt (file and grind) some xs1100 tripleclamps and look hoky then BUY the converti bars and still look hoky.

Hey Bawls. Yea I really liked the '06 I had but it was too darn painful to ride all day. I put the Heli Bar spacers on but that didn't make a bit of difference to me. So I traded it for the VMax. I traded the Max for the ' 09 Special Edition ZX14 for two reasons. One, I discovered the ConvertiBars, and two, I couldn't resist that orange and black paint!! Also, I was afraid when the new VMax goes into regular production, it would kill the trade in value on my '06 Max. My thinking was why would anybody buy a bike that hasn't changed in 23 years, when you can have the newer version. A mint '85 Max may still bring a good penny when the new one hits the floor. But an '06 would take a nose dive in value. I just didn't want to get stuck with a bike that nobody wanted anymore. I got 6500.00 for it on the trade so I took it while the taking was good. It was paid for too, so the trade in went towards the cost of the ZXSE. It was a good bike, a little crude but versitile. But it ain't no ZX14!! I really like your windscreen too! I almost got one but I got the ZG double bubble instead on Ebay. It's a 2nd, ZG has a distributor on Ebay that sells it's rejects for half the price. I got mine for 45.00 and the only thing wrong was the tint didn't hide the back of the gauge panel. So I took some lexan window tint and sprayed it and it's perfect!!! You cannot tell I did that and that is all that was wrong with the shield!!! I will post pictures of the Bars and screen shortly.
