Just got back from checking mine. Mine is a race bike only, so I brought it in my trailer. The shop grabbed their tools and did the inspection in my trailer with me overlooking them. All torque values were correct, and no cracks were seen. I have over 600 drag strip passes on this bike, so I know I put alot of stress on my frame, but everything checked out ok for mine. Good luck to everyone who hasn't checked theirs yet!!

So the mechanic couldn't tell the airshifter was stopping the engine mount bolt from turning?!? Those mounts are right out in the open on both sides of the bike....sounds pretty lame to me.....jeez I did my own recall work and its pretty damn hard to mistake either of the engine mount bolts for the swingarm bolt. Sounds like thats the typical shop, with a youngster who knows less than most bike owners, wrenching on customer rides. I bet they could REALLY screw a frame swap up if given half a chance lol

The mechanic should not have attempted to loosen the bolt without removing the shifter. The nut side is where the bolt is to be loosened. If you try to loosen it from the bolt side it can crack the frame.
It sounds like you dodged a bullet there! Whew!
For anyone who attempts to do this themselves...DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LOOSEN THE BOLT FROM THE SIDE THAT REQUIRES AN ALLEN TO TURN! TURNING THE BOLT HEAD COUNTERCLOCKWISE WLL BACK OUT THE MOUNTING COLLAR AND MIGHT CRACK THE FRAME!
Ok, sorry to yell that, but it may save a frame.

I just received my letter today. I'm afraid to take my bike in to be looked at. Not only does this shop take forever to do anything, I really don't trust them. I don't have a good reason to not trust them, I just don't.
Anyway, about how long does it take for them to check out the frame? Something tells me they will have me to bring my bike in on a Monday and get around to checking it towards the end of the week.

One of the original ZX-14 owners - 2006, built in March 2006 - I had my bike inspected where I bought it in Elizabeth City, NC - and it PASSED - I'm glad because I rode 50 miles with my son on the back and would have had to figure out a way home! My bike also only has 2100 miles and I don't ride it hard - and really only ride it occassionally.

It's about a fifteen minute procedure. The dealer should just roll you right in and get it done pronto.

Visually checked mine myself, am waiting for the dealer to get rid of his backlog so my bike isn't sitting around for no reason. Decided to "test" the frame last weekend, but the only thing that failed was my back tire.

16 Days in the shop they had to pull the engine to check for cracks none. Still making list of parts they damage. They only pay 4.8 Hrs to do the job, darn overpaid Techs

Yup Billzx14 know that feeling, waiting for my new Brock's Gen 3 can that they dented on my bike. Shop was good about it, no arguement they knew they dented the can and other than a few scratches that I polished seems more or less the same. Under the plastic no idea how they put it together.

heh heh you would be if you where riding behind me when I was sliding it around the corners. But the point is, get out and ride the damn bikes and stop worrying about it! Even you gotta agree with that. The way I ride, a chance of that frame cracking between my visual checks is the least of my worries.
Putting my 2CT's on today, so that should nearly eliminate the sliding issue. Until I get used to the better grip and start pushing there limits. Oh yeah, the 1098S and Aprilia Factory that were trying to follow me gave me a new nickname: "The big crazy fucker who rides his 14 like a 600". heh heh some day I'll regret that I fear...
