Bought another bike

There i was sitting at work today when i overheard a guy that i know talking about getting stationed in Italy. He was complaining about how he didn't know what he was going to do with all of his stuff so i went up and asked him what he was going to do with his bike. He said that he had been having carb troubles and didn't have the time to fix it even though he has the parts so he was going to have to sell it. Needless to say i bought a clean 1990 vmax for 500 dollars that runs, but needs carb work done . I've always said that i was going to own one, and now It's actually going to happen. I'm going to go pick it up tomorrow hopefully.

Tell me what it's doing - or not doing....maybe I can help. I've been through those damn carbs a few times.

it's red... I've still got to find a trailer to go pick it up. He said that it sat for 8 months while he was on deployment and when he got back it wouldn't start so he took it to a shop and they said that it looked like the gas that was in it had really done a number on the inside of the carbs gumming them up. They suggested that he either A. get new carbs, or B. have them acid dipped and buy new internals for them? He bought a set of carbs off of a wrecked bike and was going to re-build them but didn't have the experience and after getting them decided that he was in way over his head. Hopefully i'll be able to do the work, but if i can't then i'll just mail them to my dad and have him do them lol. I'll take some pictures of it tomorrow.

If you have any tech abilities it is not so hard. There are a few simple things worth trying before ripping it all apart. I was riding mine all the time and a little spring failed.........ran like shit.

Well, i went and picked it up today... I can honestly say that it's in a lot better shape than i thought that it was going to be in. Not perfect by any means... but worth every penny of the 500 dollars i paid for it. I was surprised to see that it has a sissy bar, extra factory yamaha corbin seat, and jardine slip ons.
