exhaust system

Hey, I'm a old guy "newbie" who shouldn't have but did buy a new left over ZX14 but I need some sound. Akrapovic (sp) slip ons---because I put a center stand on the bike and I understand this is one of the few slip ons that have a place for the stopper for the stand.
Any thoughts on sound and performance would be appreciated. Geez, this thing moves compared to by old Buell S3T.

A left over 14, what year? I`d like to go with the Akro duals too but they don`t list them for the 08, don`t know how they would fit with the 08 header pipe.

Welcome to the forum ! Dont know much about the system you are inquiring about, But i am sure the quality is high because of some comments i have heard. I went with Yosh slip-ons and there very nice. With a very deep mild sound until you crank it on, Then they come alive. One consideration for me was the ability to install stock DB level baffles if needed. Thinking of the future of more laws about loud pipes. Good Luck !

I got the Akras on mine but had to take them to custom exhaust shop to get the pipes stretched about 2mm. They torched them up to get them real hot and then put them on the hydraulic pipe spreader. They slipped right on after that and have worked great.

You would think Akro would have done something by now but I guess they don`t care.

You can have a full system and a centerstand.....

motomi1:

I had a centerstand on my '07 14 with a full stainless Leo Vince 4-2-1 so slip-ons shouldn't be hard to sort out with one. The centerstand is of course a Kawasaki part and the "custom" part I needed was a return "stop" for the stand which my mechanic fabbed up using a $5 rubber damped part and redrilling a few holes in the frame near the rear shock mount.

Hey, thanks for the info, I think slip ons are the ones for me since this bike scares the s--- out of me with the standard exhaust (just too old for this kind of power) but, damn its fun!
