Babygirl is sick again
Well, as soon as we managed to get the race locked in, I started towards the staging lanes and the motor completly locked up. Dammit! now time to see how much damage and start building the motor! The track was pathetic. It had three bumps that would get you air born and the bike spun pretty bad on one of them. Iflyphi said that could have cause a spun bearing but I will put the updates on ya'll later!

Maybe you shoulda broke it in a little easier? Like a couple thousand street miles first? How tight were your tolerances when you rebuilt it?
You go to the loose end of the spectrum on your rod and mains in a car that is gonna see alot of RPM's (my experience, and sage advice from alot of builders). At least for a race car engine. Of course you know that since you are into cars, too, but just wondering if it applies to bikes that can reach RPM's cars could never dream of.

Man I got almost 9000 miles on the bike and Most of them were on the track. I have rode her on the street a few times before that though and it was rather gentle. Once the motor is built, it will get broke in. Right off the tree!

Raymo and I talked after we discovered we spun a bearing and after going back over and over, we have almost made up our mind to go with a 2mil bore, heads, cams, and big nitrous! I wanted a 2x4 bore and stroke but he argued that I would not be able to spray as much so there we go. I mean 3mil bore sounds better but the cylinder walls become very thin and then boooom!!!!!! So we are out for the season. Sad day for babygirl and I. Anybody need or want a bad azz light weight jockey? I need a horse and I am serious.

If money is tight do a budget build, especially if you have free or cheap labor.
Send that crank to Jay, and put it back stock for the season.
Fix the cranks $250.
one rod 125
head gasket 100
rod bearings 125
main bearings 150 (these can be reused in budget build.)
Save up for the big winter build.
Everything except the HG can be reused with only a few months use.

If you decide to repair the crank you would be a fool to not have it lightened and ballanced and have the journals Nitrided to help prevent this from happening again. Add at least another $300.

what would cause this. Im sure the bike had oil pressure. Im asking this because im doing a budget build. The first time i rebuilt the motor a valve hit. I didnt know i could have the crank repaired. I had to rebuild the first time do to it busting the oil pan and running out of oil. The rod bearing were toast. Main werent affected. I bought every color bearing kaw sells for the 14 to ck the thickness. The crank is worn but it was salvagable. Sense the same motor had a exhaust valve hit. I will see about getting the crank lightened and the counter balancers taking off. APE the place i send it.

Yes it should be fine going back stock. I'm the type that if it's coming apart, go all the way. It's a lot of work to patch it together now only to do it all over again in a few months. Pay now, pay latter, your going to pay.

Seat equity is real!
When you have the money it's easy to talk about what extras should be done.
Don't know nightmare, but he comes across as a young fella trying to play this
race game on a small budget. I could be wrong, but I've been there and his comments sound familar. Some people have to give up something just to finish a budget build, and the only choice is budget build or no build. Time and effort matters little when it's the only way.
nightmare, LMK if you decide not to build that engine.

I got you and yes you are exactly right! the bike is or should I say was running good numbers because I am a descent jockey but this is an expensive game to play you know. Especially being a military man with no backing as of right now. Rob Muzzy or somebody needs to go ahead and give me a chance while I am still young and little LOL

nightmare, Did you ask them to sponsor you?
Also try your local dealerships and speed shops .
Ask for what you want, and tell them what you can do for them.
Good luck
