Need GPS USB to bike adaptor
Sorry if this seems like a silly question (I don't know much about wiring or electrical work).
I have a Garmin Nuvi 200 and a good mount for it. The GPS has a stated 4 hour battery life, but that isn't long enough for all rides. I need an adaptor to hook up to the bikes battery for the GPS. I know there must be products out there for a simple hook up but I can't find them.
The connector must have a small USB connector to go to the GPS.
Any help?

Why not splice the GPC cigarette lighter cord into 12V at the front of the bike

Honestly I am not comfortable cutting and splicing on my bike. I have done it installing a car stereo but it was quite a ghetto setup (did it in my teens). I would prefer not cutting into the wiring if possible.

If you splice in the wrong spot you will be missing the voltage drop circuitry from 12v to 4.5v. then your GPS will go poof.
I've seen folks go to Pep-Boys or such and get a cigarette lighter extension.
Cut the one end off and wire that to the battery.
Then you can plug any device which has a cig charger cord into the remote cig receiver.
Kind of like a accessory port, but hidden under the cowl.

its simple top splice into the 12 volts anywhere up front. Kawa, always check for voltage on a wire before using the wire, thats what multimeters are all about.
I guess the cigarette lighter plug to the battery is a good idea if you're worried about a splice, but i must strongly suggest you put a fuse inline too if you go that route.

Or if you have a battery tender setup, you can just get another wire for it and splice .That into a cigarette lighter plug and plug that in before you roll out, and they come with the fuses built in already. just my two cents
