How many Miles on your 14?

I have over 40K on my 06 14 and I just now had to replace my fuel pump - I was wondering how many miles are on some of the other 14's and what problems, if any, came up?

3600 miles Damn cold snowy winter up here in Washington kept my baby indoors most of the winter. For a guy like me who usually rides year round, its a pain in the ass! I just have a rule: if its below 40 degrees in the morning (4am) and the ground is wet, I dont ride. That rule was in effect for nearly the last 4 months...

15k on my 07 that I got in August 07......That was only because I didn't go anywhere for 3 months because I became a dad. If that wasn't the case....I would have about 25-30k.

25K on my 06 ,,,my rings were shot. The 06 was burning 1 quart in 600 miles . Sold it to the mechanic at the Dealership and had to sue WESTERN SERVICE CONTRACT COMPANY who I had my "so called" EXTENDED WARRANTY through. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!
My 07 is turning 19K and is also burning oil. 1 quart in 1,300 miles. Kawasaki said that it is acceptable and they will not repair the bike unless it burns more than 1 quart in 1K miles. I have not seen anybody else having this problem." THE BIKE IS COMPLETLY STOCK" I am about to have the valves adjusted and the guy that is doing the valves is going to check the rings while it is apart. I thought about a warranty through Kawasaki but have NO FAITH that they will fix the problem. I was only 1 month out of my KAWASAKI warranty when the 06 died and they wanted nothing to do with it ,,,or me.
I will update everyone after the valves are done and the flies are removed and the PCIII is installed.

What are you using for oil ? Did you run it in hard or slow ?.... I don't see reports of this happening to other high milage zx14s ...I'm not saying you don't have a problem but it seems strange to have two bikes and one owner doing the same thing..

Yeah 4TEEN, I'm calling bullshit on you. The odds of such a very rare problem happening twice to you are infintismial. Maybe, just maybe, if you were running high boost on a turbo you could wear out the rings in particular that fast. Thats about it.

Here is my wager: Give me the phone number of the shop claiming you have bad rings, and your name (or arrange another way to identify you with them), and if I'm wrong and both your bikes have crappy compression I'll send you $100 to any paypal sight you want.

It's called putting my money where my mouth is. You up to my call?

Oh my Sticks done raised the bull shit flag !!!!

I could see this happening in one in a 1000 bikes but 2 bikes and the same owner ? Seems strange does it not ..

4TEEN PM'd me and said he was using the Kawi factory oil on both bikes , maybe that is the problem ? He didn't tell me if he broke it in hard or soft ....BUT what he did tell this >>>>(I put on about 500 miles a weekend. Cruise at 110 to 120 mph which is only 6,500 rpm's. )

From that statement i could only guess it might use more oil than lets say a zx14 running 60 and 70 MPH all day ...

Say what you want Sticks and Stones but you are incorrect. I have all the documentation on the repair bill from the 06,,, from the Dealership with the compresion numbers. The mechanic who bought the bike changed the rings and it has been running fine. The 07 will be having the Valves adjusted soon and the Guy that is doing it has 30 years in the business and can do any repair or maintanence that the Dealership can do but better. He is also going to check the compression. I will take you up on your bet but you are going to have to post on this site that you were incorrect. I don't need the cash, I just want to see if you have the guts to admit you were wrong. I have been riding Ninjas for over 20 years and never had any issues proir to this. Kawasaki actually recommended that the Rings and Valve seal guides be changed because of the mileage on the 06. I puposely left the 07 Stock so I would not have a problem with the warranty. The 06 had Muzzy slip ons and PCIII. I do run at high speeds for extended periods of time but agree that 2 Bikes in a row with the same problem sounds unbelievable but it is true. I ride with 3 others who have 14's and they can vouch for me. They don't have the problem just me unfortunately. Here in Vegas I have access to some of the countries most deserted rodes where you can flat out fly. I "cruise" at 110mph to 120mph.

The 06 was babied for about 400 miles. After that it was full force. Used Synthetic after 4-5K miles. The 07 was NOT babied and it was suggested to me that I use Kawy oil because the are now asking for samples of the oil for warranty cases.

I will have to dig it out. My wife has everything neatly tucked away. I will dig it out when I get home. I rode my buddies 08 Busa and didn't like it. It's Ugly, Buzzy, and not nearly as comfortable as the 14.

And some Busa guys actually like the feel, say it's like an old muscle car from the 70's where the 14 is like a BMW or Mercedes smooth and fast.

Jury is still out on the ZX14 smoothness, I don't know if I like it.
It's too smooth. After years of smoothing the zx12, the zx14 is mercedes on the interstate smooth. Like a motorcycle similator with the cheap weak vibrator, unbelievable smooth.
It's so smooth it's dangerous, because you can fall a sleep riding along.
Maybe this bike needs a muzzy?
