My ZX-14 Seat is Stuck on the Bike
I have a 2006 ZX-14 and I tried to remove the seat the other day and it would not come off. I have had it off a few times before and had no problem. I looked in the Kaw owners manual and it said to push down on the center of the seat while turning the key clockwise to remove it. I tried that with no luck at all. Anyone know how to remove a stuck seat?

Did you try giving it a quick jab downward in the center, or a slow push?
If the latch needs grease you might need to get a friend to lift up on the back while you push down., while having the latch turned to the unlock position.

I tried both. I also tied the key with a wire so it would be in the open position and sat on the bike and bounced up and down. Not sure what else to do. I wonder if taking the seat off is covered under my extended warranty.

Make sure you turn the key fully a couple of times, then push down on seat.
You should here it click.
After that, try to open normally.

I just got back from sitting on it backwards and bouncing up and down while holding the key in the open position. (clockwise) No Click, nothing. I have pulled on it, pushed on it and pushed the middle while pulling the back up. No Click at all.

it shouldnt be that tough...
Push down with 1 hand and turn the key with the other.
If it dont work take her in and get it removed... (then fixed)
warranty who knows...

Best bet would be to return to dealer and have them remove and repair. Could be faulty release mechanism?

I just got it off. I have had bikes before where the helmet lock was also the seat release and I thought this was like that also. I unlocked and removed the helmet lock and saw there was nothing behind it that could possible release the seat. I then looked around and found the correct place to put the key and the seat came right off as it should. I appreciate everybody's help anyway.
Thanks

Actually I read it also, but the picture was kind of small and made it hard to tell where the seat lock actually was.

Well I must admit that it took me a while and a lot of exploring to find the right place to put the key and lift the seat........reading the manual will definitively save us a lot of time...

Its important to know where to stick your key to get her off. I mean the seat off......... Your honesty is inspiring.

It was really a simple mistake. If you have had sex with about 50 women and the place to stick your key was always pretty much in the same place and then you met one and it was hidden under her arm pit. None of you guys would find it either, especially in a dimly lit garage.

Is the second key only for the 06?
On my 08 the helmet cables has two loops on each end, one bolted to the frame under the seat and another floating freely, but can be looped thru a helmet then to a latch.
To lock the helmet I pop the seat, loop the cable thru the helmet strap, fasten end on frame peg, put seat back on.
I'll have to inspect further.

Don't eel bad but that is really funny, if it makes you feel any better...
3 weeks ago I pulled off my mud flap and threw in a couple of l brackets for the plate and a cool blue LCD light.
Before finishing I decided to keep the tie downs that were attached to the fender (always nice to have) drilled them out put them on and screwed everything on nice and tight.
It wasn't till the next day when I went to take of my passenger seat cover that I realized by putting on the tie downs without the fender they now sat exactly were I needed to put my key to release the seat (thou I could have gotten at the helmet lock no problem  ). I came dame close to breaking the plastic trying to pry them to the side so I could get the seat released so I could take them back off and move them around.
Cheers,
