Spooler / Stand question.

Yo !

I just picked up a DMP Rear Spool stand and some Shogun spools for my 08 ZX-14.

There were no instructions with the spools and they included a beveled spacer. Is the spacer to be used between the spool and the swingarm as in this pic ...

The next problem is the space between the stand ends is 13.5 inches at it's widest setting. From center of each spool is 15 inches. I'm thinking this stand is too small.

Even if I flip the stand ends around, the width now becomes 17 inches, now toooo wide.

What am i doing wrong here? I'm used to Ducati stands where one size fits all. Hehe

The spacer looks to be correct or your spool wouldn't clear the swingarm. As for the stand, lay it on its side, put one foot on it to hold it while you pull up on the other side. This will spread it to fit. I have some of the same stands at work deal with every brand and situation so I have to adjust my stands in this way. It will work perfectly. It doesn't take much pulling force to make the adjustment. Hope this helps.

I dont know if I would spread it.
I would return it. Not what u want to hear but it will most likely be alot less frusterating.

Go pit bull.

Yo !

I'm going to order the PitBull today.

Since I've never used a spool stand before, I have an "operational" question.

So I stand behind the bike ...
Put the left spool carrier under the left spool on the bike ...
At this time the right spool is about 3 inches above the right spool carrier on the stand ...
I push down on the stand which slowly starts to lift the left side of the bike up ...

This is where it gets "nervy" for me ....

What do I do at this point to make sure the right spool lands on the right spot on the carrier?
Does it do it naturally? Can I screw it up and dump the bike on it's side?

I'm thinking about getting the new Forward armed rear stand, so that I can lify and balance all from the same spot on the side of the bike ...

Yuppers,

From what I'm reading on reviews on the web, they say the forward handle stand is easier for a single person, and saves space in the garage.

Now to find the best deal on the web ...

+1

best stand I've ever owned. nothing behind the bike, and the balancing act is completely eliminated

The balancing act is fun with the rear handle stand when people watch you do it by yourself.....By the time they see what your doing and run over to help the bike is up on the stand

Then they all say your crazy for doing that by yourself
