I'm an Aviation warfare systems operator / Aviation Rescue Swimmer in the navy deployed off the coast of South America right now. I know all too well how bad it sucks not being able to ride while being gone. Only 43 days until i pull back into san diego!
What's up man! I am in the U.S Marine Corps. We just returned from Okinawa Japan and have stopped in Yuma Arizona for some training though. We will be back on the east Coast pretty soon though!

Smokin I weigh 205-208 suited and my bike is strapped stretched and lowered kinda like brocks setup with a muzzy pipe, , bought that way. But my question is we tuned it here in KC and geared it down one in the front and the way I remember it, seems like I lost some mph. I run 142-143 on a good day. Baffles me how you could be getting 154 out of yours.
I'm actually tuned on 92 amd our elevation at KCIR is around 900 ft above sea level. And I street ride mine , got around 7000 miles on it. Will my bike tolerate driving around on 87 octane on a hot day and the " spirited" driving? or will it detonate it. And if it was tuned for the lower octane, how much more power is it worth??

Blue Mule, I weighed about 10lbs more then you and ran 150 to 153 on 87 pump gas same set up as you except Brock pipe and map. I would say your mph is missing from your pipe and map. I also ran 87 all the time with no problems you will be fine. But you not going to get 10 mph from it. I take it your 1/8 mph is low as well?

Running pipes and maps that don't match could be a problem ..... Use 89 for the track and street riding if you are worried about 87 ... I have used 89 on the street and track with zero problems and till ran 154 on .. I'm running 87 now but i don't ride on the street anymore ...Your MPH does seem low , bentlys zx14 did more mph at the same weight or close to it .... It could be the map or the pipe or both ...Are you able to tuck in real tight ? That will kill MPH if you are not out of the wind ....The 93 fuel is not helping you , try the 89 ...

I'm still waiting on the pipe for the zx10 but like you i feel the zx10 will be a great bike to run Real street or Super street ...I'm thinking of running Real Street myself ..
As far as your zx14 all you need is an Air shifter to beat my times .... [/quote
Yeah right! But I appreciate the boost of Confidence! Hey, If you guys travel at all lee, they are having one hell of a grudge fest at Dorchester Dragway in South Carolina. I won't be able to make it there but I had a couple of guys wanting to play with me on babygirl! If you guys make it, please let me know. You and Jesse are the only 2 I know of that has piloted a stock motor 14 as fast as me. I would love to make some money from the busa boys! I will be home on the 26th of april!
Been a while but i did some foot shifting today ...Not to bad for me( 5.70s ) That made me pretty happy ... It's just really hard on my left leg .. I rather us the air shifter

I am tucking as best I can for my big head, I'm a little broad through the shoulders? The bike was tuned at smithers customs in kc area and did 180 at the wheels. I'll call and chat with him about tuning it for 89, thanks for your time

Thanks for the advice on the maps, my ET did go back down ( low 5.70s with the best of a 5.66 ) but my MPH is still only high 123~low 124 and I'm running MR9. I also got a 1.378 and a 1.379 60ft @ 64" Friday night.

You are doing GREAT !!! Don't sweat the MPH ...Mine goes from a low of 123 to a high the other night of 126.99 ... If i really watch what i'm going and get tucked in real tight i get good MPH ..I'm fine with 124 as an Avg ..Your 60 footers are killer ... good Job !!!!

I think that after I put the catalyst seat on and changed my position that my tuck is GONE. I sit lower on the bike but have to position my legs different to be able to shift. I went 3 low 5.70s at a track in Eatonton,GA yesterday and the track was no prepped well at all ( had to go to 12 lbs just to get traction). They all swear that the 14 had a piston kit. (LOL) None of the '08 Busas ran in the 5s (short or stretched).

(LOL) None of the '08 Busas ran in the 5s (short or stretched). I tried a catalyst seat and i could not get tucked in under the screen... That killed some MPH ... 12 psi in the tire will also kill MPH ... Our track here is pretty good so most times i run 17 psi ... Bad days i get as low as 15 psi .. Get you an air shifter and put back on the stock seat and i'll bet the MPH come up and the ETs come down ... With an air shifter leave your feet down till you shift to second gear ... If you try to pick your feet up in first gear you will not pin the throttle as quick .. You can thank Ricky Gadson for that last tip ...
I get that crap also from the Busa guys ...Your motor isn't stock or you got a ton of spray ..
Just tell them what i tell them ...Hey i got 10 grand that i will bet it's stock...I'll make a 5.70 pass and pull the motor down right in front of them ..If it's not stock you can have my bike a clear title ... If it's stock you owe me 10 grand ...No takers so far and i sure could use that 10 grand ..lol..

Smokin, Would a Double Bubble type screen help any on an 1/8 mile track or do the aftermarket windscreens hurt ET's & MPH? I guess there are two ways to look at it. If you're able to tuck behind the stocker, then a taller screen could actually hurt your times, but if you're a larger rider and not able to get fully tucked on the stocker then the Double Bubble could keep the wind flowing up and above your helmet & shoulders better. I imagine that this comparison would be greater magnified on a 1/4 mile track due to the higher speeds.

DB screen will work fine ... JesseJames has a DB on his zx14 and he is even smaller than me but he still has MPH the same as me ( sometimes higher than me ) .... So the larger screen is not slowing him down one bit ...
