Dyno advice?

Hey all.

Just lookin for a bit of advice.
On Sat I took the 14 to a Dyno shootout. Dude running the machine said it was reading about 10hp low.
So they run my bike and it gets 158 so plus 10 = 168.

The set up is Yoshi slipons, BMC filter, flys out and a PC running a map which I thought was pretty good.

My question is..... is that an ok sort of figure or do I stand to gain alot more by getting a custom map done?

I know I can get more by running a full system etc, but I just want to know if it's worth spending the $300 or so to get a map done.

The bike runs strong with no obvious holes in the power, I can post a scan of the printout if thats gonna help.

Cheers.

For slipons, your power sounds about right. No way I would spend the money on a custom map for slipons. There are a lot of people on this site and others that will gladly send you a map. Whats the elevation where you live/ride?

Do you like the driveability and throttle response of the map you are running? Other than the dyno #'s of your map, are you happy with it?

No issues at all with the map I'm running, driveability is good, no flatspots and no backfires.

We are about 1000 feet above sea level.

Yeah... I might leave well enough alone, I just thought a custom map might be worth lots more power. ( wishful thinking )

I'm not trying to be a smart ass,but why do you need more power? Are you racing it and want to reach a certain time? Are you already at the limits of the bike now? Or is it just bragging rights?I think the 1000' elevation may have to do with the lower #.That $300 would put you in the range of a dry nitrous set up and get better results than a custom map.Just a thought.

I was just kinda wondering if the currant hp is in the ballpark for the setup and if a custom map would really make that much difference.

I'm pretty happy with seat of the pants power, as it is.

I like to ask questions to people to get a feeling of what they're about.Where would you like to go with this bike, say like 2-3 yrs. from now?Whats the bigger picture? Now say,you will just ride the shit out of the bike for a couple of yrs.,sell it and get another. Then, to me it wouldn't make sense to spend the money on anything other then gas and maintenance.I only picked up 3hp when I got a custom map and that was from stock mapping. At least you are already with a map.If you think you'll be using the bike for track time, then planning out where you would want to go ,saves from buying things unnecessarily.Hope this helps.

dyno numbers can be deceiving. I would buy a full system before spending $300 on a custom map. If you want more power, sell you slip-ons, buy a used full system, (brock anything), and use a Brock-supplied map, they work great.
