1/8th mile times

Just thought that i would ask what kind of times everyone was turning through the 1/8th on their 14's. If you had any experience with them at the track in stock trim, or with just slip ons those times would be greatly appreciated. I know that most of you are going down into the 5's now but from the looks of it, that's on stretched/geared/piped/slammed bikes. I'm trying to go ahead and start setting goals that are realistic. I haven't raced street bikes much, but I've smacked a few 600's asses and a screamin' eagle vrod on my friend's 2000 vmax.

What should i expect? Don't give me the be careful because the bike likes to wheelie at the track bullshit either. I'm a big kid that can take care of himself lol. I think that the 14 is really pretty docile considering how much hp it's making. It's not my first time to ride a bike, and i am fully aware of the dangers of racing lmfao. I just want to know what kind of times it's going to take for me to not be pissed at myself when i'm at the strip the weekend that i get back to texas. Wheelie... i know that you've run PDS, and i'm guessing that you've run Redline in Caddo/ Greenville as well. I want to know how much faster redline really is than Paris. I know in most cars it's good for 3 tenths of a second just because it hooks better and isn't bumpy like paris. Does the same hold true for bikes?

Total stock if i remember right was high 6.20s to low 6.30s ... The 6.20s may have been with a muzzy pipe and NO P/C ... It was two years ago but i think i'm pretty close on those numbers ..

Stock wheel base with a Brocks street Meg and race map i got some 5.90s ...

Hope that helps...

That's about what i was expecting to hear. I'm going to shoot for mid low 6's depending on how many runs i get to make when i go. What is the fastest that you've seen out of a streetable 14? Turbo or non.

I have been 5.50 flat with a stock motor and a 30 shot and the bike was very streetable ( if you didn't hit a bump and knock out the oil plug )

Here's one good thread:

http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=27&TID=24601

In that thread Smokin said: "I didn't run the 1/4 stock but i did run the 1/8 ..... Best of 4 runs was 6.40s@116 and change.... That pass should have been around a 9.80 or 9.90"

Here's what mine did, just lowered and stapped, with a below-average rider (ME!):

Bone stock I got a 6.18 @ 117 first time out with the 14. Pipe, PC, and geared I got 5.93 @ 123 all at stock wheelbase and footshifting. More seat time I would have got down in the 5.80's, the 14 is awesome!

"Bone stock" to me means just like it came from the showroom - no strap, no lowering, no nothing...............

That's over 2 tenths quicker than Smokin did. RG went 6.0's with only lowered, strapped, and no air filter, so it's believable. Are you a pro or do you weigh 85 pounds? LOL!

i buy the mph with that time, i just ran those exact #'s last weekend, but that was on a 9.50 pass and 1.50 60' i dont think even rickey gadson can pull that off on a bone stock 14. Nor could brocks for that matter

i have been wrong before

hell you guys are great bone stock for me was lowered 2nd hole on muzzys links and thats it no strap or anything my best was a 6.80. it was like riding a unicycle damn near the whole track. and i'm 230 unsuited. you will at least need a strap to get anything close to a 6.3 i think but who am i. with enough seat time i prob could have ran a 6.6 but this is my first bike ever and i go straight to the track. smart huh.

I'm not sure what's going on with that this year. I'll ask my dad. If i can plan my trip around that i will, but it's probably just a matter of when i can get leave. We're pretty undermanned at my squadron so I have the feeling that they're going to be flying my ass off when i get back. Since you grew up in honeygrove, did you ever used to go to Brokenbow Oklahoma to "beaver's bend"?

Did you race anywhere besides dallas? White Sands or Mulberry creek maybe? When i was 4 i almost got killed at mulberry creek. I crashed out on the other side of a table top at a practice day and when i looked up i barely had enough time to get out of the way before a guy on a banshee landed on my pw50 and totalled it. Talk about some scary shit lol. If you ever did any street racing around paris on that cbx i'm sure that you ran into my dad and grandpa. Tim Yates and Howard Sulsar... they pretty much ruled the streets of paris and anywhere within a 100 mile radius in the late 70's and early 80's.

The bike was lowered, that was the only "modification" the 60' was a 1.53 and 6.18 @ 117. Only went to the track once all stock but I believe I could have gotten into the 6.0's with another trip to the track. BTW it's an 07 model and I'm 165 suited. With a Brocks pipe, PC,flys out, and -1+1 gearing I got a 60' of 1.49 and 5.93 @ 123 and 9.12 @ 151 1/4. I'm not a pro but I've beaten many big names testing at Valdosta on similar bikes. Now I'm extended 5" but I may go back to stock wheelbase and tweak the bike a little to go super sport racing in the near future, anybody want to give me some money?
