Silver - I always avoid the discussion of money - even at home! I have done just about anything you can think of to make it go faster without touching the engine to date..... ceramic bearings, race wheels, brock alian, power commander, lowered and strapped, mr 8 or 10 when I want to go as fast as possible, air cleaners? what air cleaner - netting out of the ram air, hub, gps speed and data acquisition, non o-ring chain, corbin custom thin seat, 18/38 sprockets, etc.... tires I use battleax with combination street/race compound - stock wheelbase Kevin

Just curious, how does horsepower gains correlate to an increase in air flow? For example a 5% increase in cfm. I'm also assuming that each is mapped as efficiently as possible

Silver08, I'm not sure of all the combos we are actually going to test yet. It kinda depends on how each test pans out.

Air flow to hp ratio? Well there is a ratio put out by Supeflow but that ratio assumes full trapping and optimum configuration.

The bottom line in making more power is trapped volume. Trapped volume depends heavily on valve seat timings as well as lift and port speed.

I talked to the tech department at Muzzy because I'am going to build another motor. He said to get the 1418cc kit. It has bigger pistons, degree your stock cams for higher RPM & redo your head & you will see 210HP to 215HP at rear tire. (Also with PClll, exhaust, etc...)I think that would be a perfect motor for street/strip.

Y2K, would head porting and bigger cams effect the speed in the gears, specifically would the increased topend power and overrev translate into more speed in gears and allow the use of more gearing but still allow the bike to cross the quarter mile line in 4th gear rather than 5th?

Smokin, we have had the zx14 stage 1 head done for 2 months. !!! I figured you were following the thread on it..... We have done at least a dozen so far. Now we are about to test the stage 1 head with some web cams.

Mike, I dont know the gearing on the ZRX to comment on it. But this head is going to be a big improvement over a stock head. I'm looking forward to seeing the dyno graph.

I haven't heard anything about the stock displacement/aftermarket cam development here or on other boards for some time. I don't think Brian was suscessful in getting any more power out of the street stock displacement combo he was working with despite all his efforts. It appears that the stock cams are as much as the engine needs at the stock displacement in a street motor.
