B-KING KILLER??? THE NEW 200+ HP VMAX CONCEPT
My first bike was a 1997 Yamaha V-Max and I really liked it. Now I have a 06 ZX14 and love it, but I still like that naked look. I came across this the other day let me know what you guys think. It is rumored to be over 200hp!!!

That's right, look for it as a late 08 release by the end of summer or an early 09. 1800cc engine "DETUNED" to 205hp!!! Wow. If this is true and it's anything like the original Vmax, then Zuke & Kawi might need to dig a little deeper in their hats to come up with another trick or two to produce a few more ponies for 09. When will this MADNESS stop?..... Hopefully never, lol.

When I see 205hp from a stock motorcycle I'll believe it then.

Standby for "High Winds & Heavy Seas"... the storm will be arriving from Japan this fall. Yamaha knows that if the next generation Vmax doesn't have the same impact on the motorcycle community as it did back in 1985 , then it'll have been a complete waste of their time and the new program will surely flop. Think about it though... this is their way of getting back into the horsepower / drag racing market. I'm not really crazy about the look, but heck who cares... if it can run with the Busa & 14, you won't be able to see it as it blisters down the track anyway.

unless it turns as good as my 14, i'm not interested...
besides, too many bugs here to be riding an unfaired bike....
would look like a collage of carnage after a ride.... LOL
never mind all the flies you'd attract to the dead ones your wearing...

They already make a front mini-windshield/fairing for the b-king that actually makes the bike look better, I'm sure the after market will serve the Yamaha as well.
I looked at that pic again....that thing looks HEAVY, does anyone have the weight on it?

I'm betting around 600 pounds. They would be stupid to have it weigh any less IMO. Too much power and potential for 95% of the future owners. Plus, with that extra heft it will help keep it from wheelying- somewhat!
Honestly, I could make that the first Yamaha I ever owned. I like the looks, ALOT! With a windsheild, of course. have that sitting next to the 14 would be an awesome combo.

Every bit of 600 pounds for sure ....It's not going to make much of a drag bike ....Can't change gears ( shaft drive ) , No aftermarket but for a pipe and p/c ......Oh you may be able to buy some bling for it but that's about all anyone will make ...

crap didnt see the shaft drive. Thats a game changer for sure, it'll have to be a 500-520 pound bike just to make it run low 10's with a shaft drive. I hate shaft drive on supposed "high performance" bikes. Talk about a misnomer.

If my memory serves me correctly, I believe the weight on the original Vmax was 619lbs wet with the 1198cc engine and shaft drive. It ran mid 10's bone stock out the box in 1985 and was the fastest production motorcycle in the world.
Last April, Bill Warner and his modified Vmax (chain driven) ALL MOTOR (no nitrous or turbo) earned the "Green Hat" at Maxton after recording a 200.06mph pass on the naked (no windshield either) power cruiser. Now that's impressive!!!

Wonder if they had to duct tape him to the bike to keep him on it? Jeez thats fast! Fastest I've ever been on a naked is 150mph on a modded GS1100. Thought the wind was going to tear my clothes to shreds! And I just knew if I sat up I'd be blown off it, 400 lb grip strength or not...

You're right Qwick, if you go to Holeshot Performance you can see a clip of Dale Walker on the original laying down a 10.62 in the 1/4.

My wife & I both had the 2005 20th Anniversary Special Edition Vmax's. But, that was until she saw the red 2006 ZX14, then it was bye , bye Vmax, lol.... about 7 months later I followed her move and bought me a blue 14. I didn't mind riding behind her when she had the 14 & I was still on the Max (Great view!!!) lol. Never could get by her, no matter how hard I tried. But then again, 2nd place never looked So Good!!! LOL

I know what you mean qwick, but remember to watch out for your own ass before you watch hers. I've nearly wrecked before when the roads got twisty and my concentration was split because of a hot lady riding in front of me. Watching that leather clad behind sliding across a R1 seat in the S turns nearly did me in... and I almost wrecked, too!

LOL, sounds like you had one like I did in 1985, mine sat for a few weeks because no one made a 15" rear tire for it, or an aftermarket exhaust.

TShultz, If you're not familiar, meet up with the VMOA members in late June at the "Thunder in the Valley" bike rally held in Johnstown, Pa. If you want to see what kind of mods can be done to a Vmax, you won't be disappointed... there were 95 of them at the hotel we stayed at.
