anodize or powdercoat?

I'm thinking about having my stock wheels anodized or powdercoated in gold to match my rearsets and levers instead of going with new wheels for $1700 to $2300. I'd prefer to have the new wheels to pick up all of the benefits of unsprung weight, but since I don't race it's not necessary. I may end up going that route at some point anyway.

I know I can have the wheels powdercoated and it looks like I should be able to find some place that can closely replicate the gold color I'm looking for. Through my interenet research it appears that anodizing is a better and more durable process, I'm just not sure it can be done to a finished, manufactured wheel.

Any ideas on the benefits of anodizing over powdercoating? Cost comparison? Suggestions for retailers of each?

Thank you,
Slates

anodizing fades, powder coat although as tough as chrome, can chip,

I would want either polished first before whichever coating you desire, which will be an added expense.

If you will eventually be getting aftermarket wheels, save your money till then,
You'll never get your mnoey back for the work done to the stock ones when you sell them.

Powdercoat looks better but weighs more (unsprung weight).

ok, now were talking grams, like 3-5 grams a wheel.

I wouldn't worry about that, and if i were, wheels would be second priority on the list right behind uncorking the beetch!

not sure if you can anodize the stock wheels, most cast parts can not be anodized.
would have to be powder coated.
aftermarket billet wheels can be anodized
