07 or 08 need help
i need some advice,i just sold my 01 hayabusa and am interested in a zx14, my dealer has leftover 07s (blue) for $9000 and 08s silver for 10,200, the question is which is a better bike, i read that they made the 08s lower power delivery smoother and put an insulator pad on the inside of the back of the engine to quiet internal engine noises,im very anal about engine noise, ive heard a couple of 06s run and one of them was a lot quieter than the other, i guess what im asking is the 08 really that much better of a bike and worth paying the xtra money or will an o7 be just as good, i have not heard an 08 run yet, if anyone has is the engine a lot less noisy, any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated!!

'07 Based on price alone. Never had a noise issue on my '06. Do you like the blue or silver color more? IMHO, thats all that matters. The performance is nearly identical.

If you are planning on adding a full exhaust, pc, and pulling the flies, then buy the '07. After that the two will be nearly identical. You can use the savings on the '07 to pay of the new exhaust and pc.

The cam chain tensioner was updated in 08, due to complaints from rattle, it would bleed down on the 06-07 if the bike was parked for a while and would rattle until oil pressure pumped it up.
Not a mechanical issue, just noise.
Likely the insultor pad is just for the injectors, which aren't so noisy anyway.
The 08 has more power below 6000 rpm due to different ecm program openeing secondary throttle plates sooner.
If you plan to pipe and map the bike, 98% of us remove the "stp's or flies " completely anyway.
Removal of the flies on either bike ( highly recommended) makes the low end power delivery differnces moot.
I guess to summarize, if you will ride the bike completely stock, than an 08 is better bike.
If you will be piping and mapping the bike and remove the flies as well, on either bike, then either bike is the same uncorked.
The money saved buying the 07 can be used to pipe, and map for the same price as the 08 stock.
I'd buy the 07 and uncork it !
you will see almost 30 ftlbs below 6000 rpm, and 28 RWHP increase near redline uncorked!
Makes it a totally different animal to ride! And a damn good kick in the pants for sure!
