LUCKY14 is a BELLY RAT!!!

yes, its official, Lucky14 is a Yello Belly Rat! alot of guys talk a good game from the sidelines, Luck14 did his talking on the track, Lucky, has it been 30 years without drag racing a bike? YOU DID GREAT!! I could see the skills of the past on your first pass, you handled the 08 14 well. I know your times will improve every outing. 6.80's are nothing to be ashamed of for a muti year lay off, and you only made a handfull of passes, I dont think you made more than 5? Next outing I predict 6.60's, not long and you will be in the low 6's, I can see it.

First , thank you Wheelie for taking time away from running your own bike to walk me through every step from launching to braking after the run and to coach me after every run!

I got 5 runs starting at 7.30 on the first one and working my way down to a 6.83 at 111+ mph. I know that's not quick for the fast guys on the board, but I feel real good for a first time out, and it's only been a 25 year layoff, not 30!

If you couldn't tell from the pictures, my mods are lowered 1.25 in the rear, 0.75 in the front, and a strap and I weighed 180 in street clothes on the digital when I got home.

That ............ was ............ FUN!!!

Nice pics. That '08 blue looks soooo black. Anways I agree on the weird looking strip. I believe 2 piece 360zip leathers is a must for a sportbike owner.

Yeah, "weird" but safer than street racing, and no possibilities of tickets or jail.

I can't argue with this. I preach to everyone I know about always wearing full gear. It gets even worse if I admit to you that I had the leather lowers that zip to the jacket sitting in the car. I can't answer for Wheelie.

It's about half way between Dallas and Ft. Worth. Thanks. It just shows how fast this bike is with a rider doing soooooooooooo many things wrong!

Yeah, I got picked on for not wearing enough protection, but what they couldn't see in the pics was my bullet-proof vest under my jacket - the REAL protective gear needed!

I wonder if our paths ever crossed at the Belly or at Green Valley way back when? I'm sure that Wheelie would have been at Green Valley at the same time as me, but I just can't remember back that far.

As to wearing protective clothing, during the hot summer I've seen people running in shower shoes, shorts and a t-shirt. Also seen a race where each driver had the wife or girlfriend on the back.

Part of the personality of the track that keeps people comeing back. Kind of like the Coliseum in Rome.

It has a scary reputation, but I went for a lot of seasons and never had a problem. Met a lot of people I liked.

Oops, missed your ealier post.

It is *similar* to a Tobin. I bought a spare seat off of ebay and had a local upholstery shop do it. I wanted a "hump" to keep me up near the tank just for racing, but it turns out to be very comfortable on the street (well, at least for 1 hour on Saturday).

I'll post pics of the seat later.
