TRE-006a

I plan on getting a brocks alien head(and PC) for my 06 zx14. Will I need to get TRE-006A to get rid of the pop. I guess there is two questions here 1. will I defiantly get the pop sound with that set up? and if so will the TRE006a fix that?

there is a plethora of TRE info posted already, plus "decel pop"search if you do a search by clicking the top left search link.

The TRE won't fix the decel pop-

Yes the tre006a will make the decel pop go away but it is only to be used with the flys removed. I have Brocks smeg and mine doesn't pop at all. Also have 2 riding buddies with the tre006a and they have no pop either.

Map the PC correctly for flies out....forget the TRE, it's junk !!! If your Alien Head doesn't come with the red plug used to plug the hose coming from the Kleen air system to the bottom right side of the air box find something to plug the hose off totally going to the air box. This virtually eliminates the popping on decel.

There is two different TRE one for the poping with the flies out and one to give you the bottom end with the flies in and just pluging off the the air box does not take care of the poping sound I have Gen3 exhaust with the air box plug in and have the block off plates and mine stills pops Know five other people with different full systems and theirs pops also.

yes, the pop will be there. significantly reduced with the plug and correct map, but you will still get at least one big bang on decel.

I still am amused by cagey's rudeness above

Steve -- yes he is very rude and obviously blind too, but the 006A DOES get rid of the pop from what I've heard. That's all it's designed for, from my understanding, but then, so does a 270 Ohm resistor on the same wire.:d

Brock is now selling Ivan's TRE on his site.

I guess that the TRE-huggers are now vindicated!!

Quoted from Brock's site:

SKU: IVAN-TRE-006A
TIMING RETARD ELIMINATOR ZX-14 06-08 Requires sub-throttle plate removal & special mapping. Gets rid of fuel shut-off on decel-This will allow smooth on/off throttle transitions and will get rid of the annoying pop when the throttle is reapplied.

To give you a straight answer Cagey, yes the TRE-006 works as advertised. It eliminated the decel pop on my Brock piped ZX-14 and on several friends bikes. DO NOT install it on a ZX-14 unless you have removed the flys. It will slow down a bike with the flys installed. You will lose you're gear indicator (reads N all the time) and the neutral light still works. Go to Brocks site for an independent test result on this product. Brock also indicates there may be a slight loss at the drag strip using the TRE-006.
