Qwick Pipes Completed

For those who haven't read my original thread... these are my Qwick pipes that I built using the stock 14 mid-pipes and a few of the internal pieces from the factory mufflers.

Looks good, so I take it you changed your mind about going to a 4-2-1 exhaust ?
Extensions look good also. Look out Matt, he's coming for you !

Thanks 00. I wouldn't say that the 4-2-1 system is out of the question just yet. But I do have a few more tricks up my sleeve to increase exhaust flow and hopefully squeeze a few more ponies out of them. They produced 172.85hp on Brock's dyno and I'll be pulling the flies soon and installing the flies out map that you sent to me... then maybe I'll go looking for Sir Matt, lol.

Dubious, Thanks. You should pack up your snow shovel and move on down... it's a great place to live and the weather here is motorcycle friendly nearly 10 months out of the year.

Hawk, Yes I have a burnout video that I'm going to try to get put on here tomorrow. I did the burnout the day before I went over to get my new rear tire, so I didn't mind finishing off the stock Bridgestone. I plan on increasing the exhaust flow for more horsepower, but will also be trying to incorporate the use of some quality aftermarket packing material to handle the extra exhaust tones. Those are resinated stainless steel tips that I've used, but the packing lining in them is rather thin.

The brake line worked out fine, it's only +4". Total weight on the pipes is less than 6 pounds.
They sound very similar to and about as loud as my friends 08 zx14 with Brock's Alien Head on it.

That's the 1st thing that came to my mind when I saw the pictures. I'm curious too.

No problem whatsoever with heat issues... this is mainly due to the internal screen/baffle system that I built inside the pipes. I've even turned the rpm's up to 7K while my feet were just aft of the tips, in the line of fire and my pant leg got only warm to the touch. I understand your question... cause without the baffle system, a typical shorty free flowing pipe would surely roast your ankles. My screen/baffle design is a "minor" mocking of the back pressure that the stock exhaust system creates. This keeps the horsepower & torque up while in the lower rpm range, which is sometimes lost when going to an aftermarket free flowing exhaust, especially with a system this short. Don't worry guys... our 1/8 mile track will open very soon and I'll post up some results... GOOD or BAD.

I was wondering about performance too, usually a significantly shorter pipe = less

Well, explain that to the dyno Steve... The Alien Head (now one of the shortest pipes)
has laid down some pretty impressive numbers don't ya think? But, don't take my exhaust idea the wrong way... I did not build these pipes to compete with the Smegs, Alien Heads or the M10 full systems. Remember, this is just a slip-on system, still using the stock head pipe. This is a look that "I like" and it may not appeal to others. But, compared to the other shorty pipes that I've seen, I personally think that these look & sound the best. And the best part for me, is that I made them myself (having no fabricating skills)... and I didn't buy into someone elses idea. Hey, if nothing else, people will always agree with one thing about them... They're different. And it shows that you don't have to buy into the high priced aftermarket exhaust world if you choose not to. It's the best $36 I've ever spent!!!

Nice I like them very cleaning looking and for $36 how can you possibly go wrong. Besides a few horsepower either way does it really matter?

guys i agree 100% the pipe looks great, was simply asking if anyone did a before/after run on it because "usually" on a straight through pipe it loses HP.

And totally I agree a few HP los on the ZX14 isn't significant at all if looks is the priority

didn't mean to offend anyone ( for once!), just asking- peace~

Steve, Here are the before & after runs on the Dyno when the pipes were mounted on a 2007 ZX14 (not mine). 166.36hp before, compared to 172.85hp after the Qwick Pipes & map were installed. And the torque was 100.03 before, compared to 102.47 after. So that's a gain of 6.49 Horsepower and 2.44 ft. lbs of Torque.
