Turbo install ..JesseJames zx14
Ok guys here we go ....Here is a picture of the kit and parts..

Next shot is a picture of the turbo its self ..

Other side of the turbo..
Turbo hung on motor.

Up pipe , charge tube.

Block off plate and nipple for boost gauge .

In order to install the header and turbo you will need to remove a small nub on the front of the engine .. This nub doesn't hold anything or have anything bolted to it ...What it is there for i have no clue ...I removed it with a die grinder and only took a few seconds to remove ...The turbo fits well after the nub is removed ...I had to rotate the turbo housing just a few Degs to get the up pipe to fit just right ...It would have been ok without this little adjustment but it fit just a bit better by doing so .. Well that is it for now , more pictures and text as i get a little more done .. Smokin..

I stopped over yesterday and we got the lowered oil pan installed, oil feed line and radiator positioned and mounted. No install instructions were sent with the kit and they were suppose to show up yesterday but didn't. All the hoses and lines are precut and smokin needs to see how the guy planned to mount and run everything. It will be a couple days yet until it's running.

Here are a few my pictures for you guys with the rad fitted ..

We did have to modify the lower Rad support bracket a bit ..It had the be shimed 1/4 inch away from the block and we also had to grind it to clear one of the turbo flange bolts...You can see what we did in the first picture . You can also see where i had to grind that nub off the block to clear the turbo flang , it's just below the lower Rad support bracket ..Smokin..

overall Smokin', how do you rate the kit so far? I was told that it is a bolt on and go.....Hmmmm seems like you are doing some mods to me. I am sure it will perform well but a bolt on is bolt on without shimming and cutting off engine tabs.

Well i hate to give a report till i see how it runs.....So far i don't feel too bad about it and at this point i would say it's 8 1/2 out of 10 so far but that could change .. . I have done a few turbo kits over the years and i have not had one that didn't need some mods of some kind ... I don't know if anyone really makes a true bolt on turbo kit ...
The CNC parts are top notch , the tig welding on the header looks to be very good, the welding on the charge tube is a little ugly and the charge tube itself looks like it could have been done a little better ..
The Tec help from Dave has been very good, but we did have to wait to get the kit ( 4 weeks ) ..Part of the wait was do to changes we made to the kit from the stage one kit that he builds..
The two little mods i have made where very easy to do , but i'm not done yet with the install so there maybe a few more before it's all said and done ...

I have a deal for anyone in FL ... If you buy a Muzzy Turbo Kit i will do the install at half price .. I really want to compare kits and i would do the same write up and pictures as I am doing for the CycleLogic Motorsports Kit ... Only catch is i get to make a 1/4 pass on it ... I'm kidding about the last part ...I really would like to find out whos kit is the best so bikeland members could get the best bang for there buck.. ...Smokin..

what kind of horses are you expecting lee and has anything been done to the motor as of right now? I am asking because you are very limited to the amount of horse power you can throw down before you have to worry about spinning a bearing. was there an upgrade on the pistons as well. I talked to Cesil and bob and they let me know that the rids in the 14 could stand almost 300hp so no worried there right!

We are running low boost ( 8.5 ) and that should be good for 260 HP and safe on the stock motor with pump gas ...We are not going to use pump gas, to be safe we are using c16 .... About the bearings , only one guy has had bearing problems with a turbo and trust me the bearings were not the problem ..Muzzy said the stock parts are good for 280+ HP .... After we max out what we can run at 8.5 boost we will add a set of rods and pistons If needed ....I believe that we can run up to 12 PSI boost with a good mapping and c16 fuel on the stock parts with no problems ...The four weak links in any stock motor are the pistons and rod bolts ...The rod is plenty strong but the bolts are not ..The pistons are weak in the valve pocket , the valve pocket is cut way to close the the upper ring land ...3rd is the oil , we have added new pan with an extra QT of oil ..We also upped the weight from the 10w30 to 15w50 ... Last but not least is the mapping ... it will be mapped at around 11.2 A/F at full boost , at that fuel ratio the fuel becomes a coolant ...Cooling the intake charge is a must to make even an after market piston last in a turbo motor .. The trick is to tune out any chance of spark knock .. Spark knock will kill a rod bearing or a piston less than a second ....
