It was a proven fact by alot of Busa board members a few years ago that the K&N actually lost hp on back to back dyno runs over stock Airfilter. They are good if you want a long life filter but not the best at making power. I'm sure it would cost the 14 hp as well. Never tried one myself so can't say for sure.

I dont know about losing but I have tested them on my ZX10's and they MADE NO difference where as the BMC gained about 2hp on my 10's I have the BMC on my 14 and it felt a little stronger to the butt dyno havnt tested on the dyno yet and as I recall Smokin picked up right at a 10th of a second just switching to the BMC

Damn it only took 2 1/2 years for K&N to make one ... lol.....I bet they made one for the Busa 2 days after they hit the show room floor ...

If you are wanting to make HP...take your stock air filter out....remove the metal backing from it by prying one side with a small screw driver and reinstall it. The stock 14 filter flows more air than a K&N....air makes HP !!! As stated above, the K&N is good for those wanting a washable long lasting filter and the BMC as BM14 stated flows better than the K&N. I prefer stock on all my fuel injected applications.

Hey Kawabunga,I asked this before but no answers.Whats up with the 14 air filter being about one quarter of the surface area of the Busa. When I pulled this thing out and seen that alum.(restrictor plate) I thought that Kaw.had messed up an put a 125 dirt bike filter in it. Could you tell me the theory on this tiny teeny filter. Thanks Jack

It's not about how much surface area an air filter has, it's about how efficiently it flows the air coming in and maintaining the capacity of air in the air box under pressure so as not to restrict what the engine desires. The aluminum plate on the air filter is for shape integrity and element protection....just so happens to restrict it as well. Picture a piece of debris ( small ball bearing ) that just happens to jump up off the road and be ingested and goes right through the element and down the throttle body and we all know where the next stop will be after that..... $$$$$$$$$....conditions would have to be just perfect for this to happen, but could. Engineers and designers are pretty good about covering all the basis. There is always a rhyme and reason. With the capacity of the intake ducts on both sides and the air box combined there is more than ample air for what the motor wants to ingest at any given moment and plenty of clean filtered air in the air box waiting to make some HP
