Purolator?
Okay, we have plenty of oil threads.
But what kind of OIL FILTERS are people using.
Also, saw on another forum where Rotella syn foams up in motorcycles. Just wonderin'.

OEM oil filters all the way. Think about it ?...how many of you are still under warranty or extended warranty ? As a tech, when there is a catastropic engine failure under warranty most manufacturers usually request return of the oil filter on the bike as well as motor parts destroyed. Send them a Fram, Purolator, Hi-Flo etc... and they will laugh and say too bad...you just bought a motor. Manufactures will also perform what they call good will even if the bike is out of warranty if you have a dealer that will stand up for you and your care for the bike. They all know the bikes go to the strip and track days and are willing to look the other way and not ask...the dealer is your best friend in these situations. Run what you want to run, but does 7-10 dollars more really mean that much to you? You have a motorcycle worth thousands and it lives off good oil and oil filters. I refuse to run anything but OEM oil filters.

Comon Smokin...I know you can read...maybe rehash what I wrote. I wrench for a lot of ZX14 owners that use their bike at the strip and have warrantied everything from clutches to cranks and have never lied to my Kaw service rep. I do not volunteer info and they never ask, does he drag race or road race. I get paid the same whether Kaw or the owner pays me. I do my best to help the owner. I just call for autho and tel, them the crank is toast or clutch is burnt, they say fix it and give me an autho number. There are more people that tear their bikes up on the street than at the strip. Most people at the strip know how to ride, a lot of street riders don't have a clue.

kawabunga, another joke about oil is see how many times you can find threads about 06-07 ZX14's leaking oil out the left side and how many times they went in the shop for it.
Everyone I know runs the after market filters.

PER-FORM filters are highly rated for there ability to filter down to one of the lowest micron ratings..Cant remember what it was but..If you call there web number they have a great price on cases..Around 6 bucks each and you can mix and match..For me with 4 bikes its a good way to go... And i dont know about Purolator Motorcycle filters but the auto ones are highly rated...Stay away from Fram..There bypass (pressure) valve are cardboard and not reliable..And chances are foam in any syn oil is likely water in the oil..Not the oils fault..I have used Rotella in all my bikes now for about a year and it out performs amsoil.. That i used for years..

I HAVE NEVER KNOWN ANYONE TO GET CLUTCHES COVERED UNDER WARRANTY FROM ANY MANUFACTURER!!

BM14 which dealer did you go to ?
I have read numerous times that the Purolator is THE filter to go with on many bikes. I know there was atleast one person here running it. He gave the # and i didnt record it. It is what i will be using the next time around.

You need to change dealers BM14.....Kaw as well as Yam, Hon, Suz will always warranty a clutch one time...." first time shame on you , second time shame on me " , scenario. LYAO at your dealer BM14 not me...I have been doing this for a living for 34 years. I could have gotten your clutch warrantied...guaranteed. Your dealer probably has a past history of false warranty claims and not being truthful and been busted for it. Being truthful and having an excellent history pays dividends for the customer under warranty, as well as quality work. Ask your dealer what the letters CSI stand for. CUSTOMER SERVICE INDEX...That's how dealers are rated. One other thing...there is something called Goodwill. Had a customer bought 6 bikes from us and Kaw was unable to take care of their issue under the warranty process, step 2 is called Goodwill from Kaw. that means they will still fix the problem once but not the same problem again. If that still doesn't work, step 3, Goodwill from the dealer, that is a 50/50 thing between the dealer and customer, they pay for the parts, dealer absorbs the labor. This goes a long way on the streets and tracks when people talk about their dealers. Have a great day

After being burned from Dealers in 3 states over the last 36 years i don't even take the bike back to the dealer ....I just make my own repairs and move on ...That's why i said my warranty is over on the first pass down the track .... I worked for Yamaha and Honda and i have seen and heard Service Reps tell people to take a hike ... Kawabungas dealer may be a good dealer as he states but i'd bet he is one in a 1000 ......

Kawabunga, I would never switch dealers I paid nothing for the clutches but that is because the owner ( a close personal friend) completely ate the cost and didnt charge me anything but it damn sure wasnt covered under warranty!!
KC I have bought all my bikes from Milams Kawasaki in PIne Bluff he is by far the cheapest guy around I paid 9900 for my 06 14 back in june of 2006 when everyone else was selling them for 10,999 or 11,200. I remember a post not to long ago and it sounded very scientific and it said the same thing the high end puralator is the best, I have always used the kawi filter but my next oil change I will probably switch

I work with a guy that buys BMW and says the same thing,
only BMW can change is oil and teplace his tires, because BMW only sells the best.
I ask one question which OEM filter is the BEST? Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki all
sell a filter with the same specs.

I speak on Yamaha and the RS Warrior, b/c that is what i know.
Quite a few tests we done and the Yamaha filter was found to the bottom of the barrel and one of the highest priced filters.
And sticking with OEM just b/c they designed isnt a very goos reason IMO. Did you stick with the Bridgestones when they wore out, and after sliding out from under you ? Same princicple.

Motorcycle manufacturers don't design oil filters. They accept bids from oil filter manufacturers and go with the cheapest high quality product with the manufacturers name on it.
