Shinko or Power Pilot 2CT

I have heard great things about both tires. This tire will mainly be used for drag racing?? Also would you recommend a 190 or 200???

I would only use the Shinko U-Soft for dragracing. Sure you can use it on the street, but the profile of the tire is rather wide thru the center which means less contact when leaned. I took an emergency 500 mile trip on my U-soft, I had to mount new rubber before my return home. It was almost to the wear-bar and I didn't want to risk another 500 miles @ 90mph+. With that said, I had a total of 1800 road miles & probablly 30 passes on the 1/4 with the u-soft before I changed it out.

Aren't the 2CTs rather expensive? I don't know anything about them. I do love my pilotpowers though.

if your not stretched the power 2ct will be fine. But the regular pilot power would work just as good. that's what I ran on mine until I went to 62 inches then I went with the shinko.

I have the regular Pilot Power on my SWB Busa and I like it a lot. I've run Shinkos 200 and 190 on it in the past but the Pilot hooks better and is lighter. I have a 190 U-soft on the '06 14 but it's about 4" over. I'm going to put a Michelin on it when it wears out and see the difference.

i did the same thing last year, i didn't get the u-soft, they say the r003 will work and mine did at times. every time i tried to get my 60's faster i would spin or sometimes it would hook, unpredictable, my bike is at 64". i will get the u-soft this spring. i will need a front tire also, any ideas on that?

My bike will be about 5 inches stretched out and I am not really worried about big lean angles. I just want a tire that is gonna hook and give me the best ET's.

i dont know now. Ive been through pilot power, battlax, shinko 003, macxis, and the micky thompson street/ race tire. The only on that would grap was the battlax. Mind the bike wasnt x tend either. I guess ill try the u soft since apparently i bought the wrong one. Im looking for a serious street tire that you can strip with also. Or am i hoping for to much on the street. I just want the bike to grip so i can see what it will actually do. Yes i know at the strip it will grip with the sticky stuff. Since ive extend it i havent found a tire to grip.

I ran 8.80s at Rockingham back in November on a Stock wheelbase Busa with 24 lbs and a Pilot Power. I got low 1.50 60ft every pass and never spun once out of 11 passes. Suspension set up has a lot to do woth it as well as a good "hooking " tire. I ride it on the street with 32~35 lbs, still not spinning.

The mickey thompson would grip well when it was stock wheelbase. Only problem i had with it was it would hold air for some reason. I lowered the psi to 18 and ran it hard. The next thing i notice was it keep going flat. No nail or anything in it.

I tried a shootout tire once and it was TOO MUCH hook for me plus it seemed out of round and did a lot of "bouncing" when doing a burn out.

i thought maybe my coil was to stiff. I loosened it up and set up the shock. The only time the shinko wouldnt spin was with someone on the back.

i dont thing that it. Its a stock 14 with all the regular mods everybody has on here without nitrous or a turbo. I have it a 16/43 gearing and about 6in over. Like you said its most likely my setup. I ll try a u soft this next time and if that doesnt work its for sure the suspension

What do you weigh ? I run a U-soft shinko on my 14 but it's only 4" over ( for now ). With 15~18 lbs of air I get consistent low 1.40 60 ft,. I weigh 168~175 lbs . Depending on my gym time. I use a 190 but may try a 180 the next time - 200s are HEAVY !!!

2CT's are made for cornering. If you get PP's, just get the original PP.

Shinko would be better if you're pure drag ofcourse.

Spyder,

You need to run your bike through a mud puddle to get that "experienced" killer look--
Right now it looks virgin-- But that's not so bad
