2008 catalytic converter removal Has anyone running slip-on tried to gut the header of the new cat? Can it be busted loose with a long screwdriver or a steel rod?

I seriously doubt it. I see more damage then good coming from something like that.
Only advice if you cant get a full system, is take the header to an exhuast shop, have them hack the cat out of there and weld in a fill peice. Imports call this a 'test pipe'. Keep the cat though, stuff is worth money

The 08 catastrophic converter outlets are a larger diameter than the previous years so only 08 specific slip-ons will fit. As far as removel of the stock stuff I have had no issues on removal....loosen clamp at the converter, remove the bolt next to the foot peg ( only on the right side ), remove the rear hanger bolt, twist the can back and forth as you pull back and it should come right off without any prying. Left side is the same without the bolt by the footpeg. I do not know if anyone has slipons available or not at this time....I know they were not available in Dec. because I installed a set of 07 headers on an 08 to be able to install 07 Yosh slipons on the 08 Special Edition. Works perfectly. Just be careful when you try to buy the slipons, they may tell you that an 07 or earlier set will bolt right on your 08....NOT!!!! Hope this helps you.

On the Yamaha's removing the catalytic converter and installing slip-ops is popular. For the '04-'06 it6s as simple as removing the exhaust and smashing the honeycomb with a hammer and screwdriver. For the '07-08 the pipe has to be cut, peeled open, converter removed, them welded back shut.
I know this isn't a Yamaha forum, but point is surely there is a way to get that crap out of the Kawasaki exhaust.

Crusin,what a coincidence I just drilled that friggen plug out yesterday.I can not understand how the bike even runs with that blockege in there.Open that sucker up and get it redynoed and I would bet on a large increase.Need long drill bits and two hours of cussing and then It sounds great..Now wondering what slip ons to get.Kinda like it the way it is .THHE Jack PS just beware Its a bitch..It is not ceramic..

I never bothered to try and take the cat comb material out of my ZX14 because the Brock's full systems are such an awesome gig

Ya Steve but you got lotsa money.This mod is for poor people.I had all the brock stuff on the busas when I was working.The 08 pipes are bigger than brocks header,not saying thats good for power but without the 3 cats and straight through slipons 2 and a half dia.the exhuast won't be whats restricting it. Did you see that Powercomander,dyno jet,is being sued for over a million..Won't be long and we wont be able to even buy this stuff for performance..Humbug Jack

Thanks, I will check it out. I am one of the few guys that likes the balanced look of pipes on both sides of the bike. It isn't a $ issue.
Two Bros. has the titanium slip-ons available now. and the polished aluminum this week....maybe. I am waiting on the polished aluminum. How long were the drill bits? Can't just "bust it" out? You could do that on the ZX-12's.

Drill bits should be at least 8 inches any dia. If you could grab it with vice grips it would pull out like a coil.A torch would do it to.

Rideharder,I know for sure that the 07s just have the cats in the mufflers. And I know for sure the 08s have 3 cats,one in each muffler and one large one in the header pipe thats pictured here.Your 06 does not have the one in the header pipe but Iam not sure if 06s even have them in the mufflers.If they do just changing to slipons will solve that..Or Iam sure you could drill them out easy'er than the header pipe.Are your mufflers wielded to the mid pipes? That would be a sign that they have cats. Jack

If money is not an issue then buy a Brocks full system and buy an extra midpipe and can fabricate the midpipe an attachment to the header just a phony attachment not one that actually connects then hollow out the extra can and use it to hide a nitrous bottle and solenoid. there is a guy here in town that has a set up sorta like that and it is AWESOME!!!! people have looked on that bike for hours and never been able to find the nitrous, I think he has the nitrous line coming up through the bottom of the airbox somehow. Just an idea if you want to have the best of both worlds and money is not an issue

Hamaguchi Ti full exhaust systems are used by the 2002-2005 FIM Asia Supersport champion. They are hand made in Japan using the 'wagiri' method of forming tight radius bends without disrupting flow.You will see this method of pipe fabrication used on GP and high end race machines. Also, variable diameter tubing is used throughout the length of piping.
Because of the many hours of research put in to developing the FIM team's exhaust systems, the power output of these systems is quite high.
These are imported exclusively from a Honda exhaust specialist in Japan in small quantities. Each system is hand-made by experienced craftsman to maintain smooth flow. Hamaguchi systems are 100% titanium tubing- even the D-Port is made of machined titanium on some systems.

Thanks for the vids H.R.now I think I like the sound of the Muzzys best and thats all Iam after.I like the duals to, so a couple slip ons should be cheap enough for me.HA...Hamaguchis would be nice but the old lady wont let me mortage the house. Getten tired of trying to make a decision and just might go to Checker auto and get a couple of cherry bombs..AAHA Jack

Only Hamaduchi stuff I'm finding is dual slip ons with a stainless mid pipe, no Ti dual full systems.
