electronic guru's help needed

Ok, this is not specifically ZX-14 related but I figure you guys could help. I got a Sony DCR-SR-80 HDD Camcorder. I just ordered a bullet camera and microphone that plugs into a camcorder by using the A/V plug-in. It's made for filming rides and keeping your camcorder in a backpack. My problem is my camcorder, I thought, is supposed to accept A/V input and output, but apparently it doesn't. It's only doing the output. The instructions doesn't say that it does, but I read the specs online and it says it accepts a/v input AND output. I know the bullet camera is workin because I plugged it up to my portable DVD player and it shows an image on the screen. Am I gonna have to find a different camcorder or can I get something to make this camcorder accept the input? I would appreciate any help you guys can offer. Thanks!

if there is a setup feature in your menu, try to find input selection, your camera probably defaults to using its own lens and video circuitry, you may be able to get it to switch to an external input, good luck

+1

And if the above doesn't work, google the cam manuafcturer's name and go to their web page "support" area or call the tech support # on their web page.

Thanks. I went to Sony's website and they have tech support. I sent them an email. Maybe they will clear this up for me.

Well I got an email back from sony and all they said was that it has the A/V input option and to refer to the manual. I didn't find anything in there and I told them that in the email. I thought I'd tinker with it one more time and I finally got it to work. I put it on the "record control" option and it started working. The manual says it's for recording off of tv or a vcr directly to the camcorder hard drive, but it works for the bullet camera as well. Audio works too. Now I can start doin some videos on my 14!
