buell pegs installed

I know it's been talked about here quite a bit but I figured that I'd add my experience. In looking at my options (ie. rear sets, corbin, buell pegs etc.) I decided that the buell's were the right choice for me. Rear sets were too expensive for me considering that it's really a race app and I just wanted some leg room. Heard too many things bad about the corbin to even bother to try them. Since I'm a big Harley fan (save your flames as I could give a shit what anyone here thinks about those bikes, I love 'em) and know a lot of guys in parts and service there I had them scare me up a pair and I was off. The quick answer is yes they do work and provide some very nice additional leg space. What anyone here thinking about this needs to know is that this is not a quick easy install. There are plenty of guys here that don't take into consideration that they themselves have been working on bikes for decades and have a mini machine shop in their garage. To them is "yeah there's a little fabrication but it's no big deal".......that is their perspective. I'm not saying it was hard, no not at all but if you think you're gonna be done in 20 mins and down the road you go, not so. So, to anyone that wants extra room, they are great!! Is it really really hard to do? No, but here is what I believe you'll need to do it. First you really should have a bench vice. You'll need a 31/64th's drill bit (titanium or cobalt will do the trick) and either a bench grinder or (in my case) an angle grinder etc. To do this right you should remove material on the top and bottom of the flanges that go inside the mount. Also, some material will have to come off of the inner most edges to allow the pegs to rotate. Yes the stock springs work just fine and the pegs operate just as they should. I suppose you could use a dremmel as some here have but that's definitely going to take some grinding time. Just some info for those that aren't Tim the tool man but aren't afraid to do some of their own work. I hope I save some of you some time in the trial and error process. I'll try to get some photos up of what they look like on the bike if anyone's interested.

Glad it worked out for you and thanks for the post.

One thing though, "Rear sets were too expensive for me considering that it's really a race app" is not totally accurate. As a matter of fact, the more expensiver super-adjustable on the fly brands aren't used much nor practicle for use on the race tracks. And they won't hold up as well in a high speed crash. But they'll allow a fit change from boots to shoes in a flash

Didn't know that. I was simply going by what a lot of the product literature seemed to state. I was looking into and considering the Vortex ones but they specified that certain positions (ironically the exact ones I was interested in) were for racing and that said positions interefered with something or other (can't really remember now) maybe kickstand use or the like I really don't know. Thanks for the clarification, I'm certainly no expert. In the end $30 bucks and a little elbow grease gave me exactly what I needed. I should mention that on a quick test ride I did notice a little tiny bit of scraping but the "feelers" were still on and admittedly I was leaning it pretty far. Suffice to say that if you're very aggressive on the twisties you might have an issue every once in a while. I'm not a good enough rider to really have that issue. Not yet anyway......gotta get Steve to show me how it's done
