06 ZX14 Drag Racing Questions

What do you think of my new Bike???

I recently purchased this ZX14 and it has been lowered and strapped, PCIII, Secondaries removed, and full brocks street meg exhaust. I am planning on using it mostly for drag racing with some street riding. I weigh about 185 and I really want to be knocking on the 8 second door this spring in the 1/4. I know I need to stretch it out but how far and should I go with extensions or fork out the extra money for the new arm. Should I change the stock gearing? Should I get an airshifter and what kind? Should I go with the Ultra Soft Shinko and if so a 190 or 200?? Non-Oring chain?? and if stretched how many links?? If you guys could, just tell me what I need to do to the bike to give me the best chance of a 8 second pass. Thanks I appreciate it.
Andy

I would set it at 64in (6.5in over). extentions work fine. 16t front, at least a 42 rear ( i weigh 205, and am 16-43 and it feels great) I have a pingel co2, i would go with any co2 shifter because they last a lot longer without refilling the tank, I think someone said a 140link chain set them at 64in, but i am not sure, i bought a 150 link and am currently ~65.5in and i cut off some links. 190 Usoft, If on the street i would use an Oring chain. I use EK ZZZ.

others will chime in.

I had mine at 64 inches and was 216 unsuited and had the Smeg with Brocks track map and went 9.14 with 87 pump gas, I was using extensions as well. with shinko. and I would recommend the Cycle-Tek airshifter kit as it's top notch and right at 350.00

spencer lowerlinks and exts/zzz 140 link chain/michelin power race 190/50 -co2 shifter . I brake from the group on the shinko because the pilot hooks great and you dont have to run a heavy flat tire on the big end. I picked up a .10 just changing the tire. bill...

The guys here have given you good info ...We have used the same mods over and over and the numbers talk for them selfs . One item that has been left out is >>>seat time seat time seat time and more seat time ...Point is you can make all the power you need with the mods you have but you still need to ride it ... The bike will make 8 second passes all day long if you can use the power...
Get to the track and get the seat time ...Low ETs come with time , you need to become Automatic .. That means that you don't have to think about it.... It's like golf , you don't go play golf once a year and beat Tiger Woods ..

Now get to the track and post up some numbers and get some videos of your runs ...Then come back here and lets see what you have done and then we can help you ..

Here is a video of one of my 8 second passes ...look at it closely , listen to the motor , look at the clutch hand, hear the point where i pin the throttle .. Also find the fastest guys at your track and go the the starting line and get close up and watch them , you will learn a lot just from watching and listening..... Smokin ...

I understand that seat time is very important, but I also think I could use every advantage I can get from the bike as well. I do not want to go with a nitrous system on the bike. I would rather race all motor. I rode an blue 06 ZX14 (Flatoutbu's Bike) last year and I have been in love ever since. I believe I ran a 9.46 on it and that was my first time ever on a 14. The only thing I had ever raced on was my ZX636. I would rather buy everything I need and go ahead and install it in the winter months because I am very busy in the spring and summer and dont really have time to do anything, barely enough time to race. I'm no where near a professional by any means but I have drag raced for two years and haven't done too bad. So if you have any advice for me let me know. Thanks
Andy
