I will be running a bone stock 08 Busa against my bone stock 07 zx14 this Saturday. I weigh 205 and he goes about 195. Probably a little more experience at the strip goes my way, but we will see. Hopefully the weather holds out and there will be no cheating. Bently, can you post a pic of the Busa axle position? That way I can tell if he has dropped a tooth.

according to Cycle World you already lost, no need to even go out there and run "the KING"

1.2 BHP ?

Forget to lube the chain and you lose more than that. Differences in rider's weights or even fuel tank level cost more than that. Differences in aerodynamics dwarf a meagre 1.2 bhp.

The 14 and the Busa are VERY evenly matched, the individual bike and rider will be the biggest difference.

1.2 BHP was enough to place it in "King" of dyno status according to the folks at Cycle World. BS, but extremely important for sales and squiddish ego.

It don't matter guys....... This is exactly what happened in 2000 that killed the 12R sales... Who's fault is it? Kawasaki's fault.. They allow Suzuki to trump them with money to the rags for good write-ups. One would think they would learn from their past mistakes... GUESS NOT

+1

the 'busa got its "cult following" (and the sales #'s) Suzuki enjoys today because of that critical mistake on Kawasaki's fault.

Who really gives a fuck huh? I mean, do we wanna be like the peckerhead fanboys on the Busa sites? We all know the 14 can't be beat by the Busa and vice versa. One or the other, makes little difference. It's really only about a personal preference as far as ergos and looks go at this point, because neither of the two can beat the other, really. I love my 14 and this after 2 Busa's which I loved, but to me the 14 is a better all around machine, if I have a choice.

Think about this they received a test unit from Suzuki whatelse do they recieve from them. My take on it is that there are many Busas out there we know this Busa has been in production longer than once the ZX12 and now the ZX14. I personally like the fact that more people buy Busas than 14s, because when you roll up on a 14 it automatically get attention because there are not already 20 at Bike nite. Screw the magazines well I take that back. That is that magazines opinion and everyone is entitled to that. Does not mean it is law just that an opinion. So if people make there decision off of the opinion of what a magazine says so be it.

ya, but the prob is Kawaski gave them NOTHING in comparison (such as Gunner stated), which lead to the unsuccessful results of the ZX12 branding

"Nothing" is what everyone seems to get from Kawasaki. We've done some pretty high profile things on their bikes in the UK over the years and get almost no recognition for it. Although to be fair they did ask me for a photo of Mike Grainger when he did 216mph on his all-motor stroker ZX-12R, which they put in their Green Eye magazine. Odd then that we stay loyal to the brand.

I have had 5 Kawasakis with zero problems at all. What I got from them is a superior machine compared to the rest, at least for what I was looking for. I am amazed at how many negative stories come from contact with the company. I guess I'm glad I've never had to contact them. I can say I have no regrets from their products.

quality is off topic. I had one great Kawi and one leaky lemon. the topic is performance and 'busa is declared King!

Thanks Bently, now I have something to start with. Anyway, I am pretty anxious to see what the new Busa brings at the strip and maybe we can go run them out when we leave there doing roll-ons. The Busa is lower stock it appears and should leave well and at a lower rpm from what I'm told. The 14 needs a 6000 rpm launch and likes to wheelie. No straps. Just like they came off the floor. But I am gonna set the front rebound to full hard....

we talked some big smack about Cycle World, then turn around in this post and claim even more of a gap in ponies. Guess out of the box the 'busa is the new king?

Uncorked is yet to be seen!

]My Busa appears to have came with a good clutch out of the crate, second pass went a 1.610 60ft followed with 3 more 1.61's with a few more passes would have been in the 1.57 range. no chatter what so ever. Also pulled a 1.56 on my buddys 05 Busa with a 100% stock clutch and 12000 miles and 400 to 500 passes on it. He also gets 1.56 to 1.58 on almost every pass.

those of you that are seeing the 08 dyno sheets, are you seeing the air fuel ratio change in the higher rpm? Also, the reason I think Kawa would have intentionally fattened the 08 is to help with the running temp as I did this with carbed bikes when the ignition was advanced a bit, it will cool them a little. The ram air at higher speeds would increase air box density as we all know and of course level it out significantly. Has anybody dynoed any year 14 in all the gears to see if the a/f is different? I would like to believe it is..

Well, I would like to tell you all this big raging lie about it all but there is nothing to tell. Pretty much a rain out. Just got home after waiting for the track to be dried and it was too wet still. What pisses me off is I wanted to get some stock results before the mods are done.
