Cycle World declares 'busa "THE KING"

Cycle World Magazine- February 2008 Edition, page 33

"Hayabusa by the Numbers: KING of the Dyno/QUICKEST in the Quarter"

CW explains they were only allowed two passes at the 'busa intro. But now they have received a Suzuki test unit and not only is it KING/QUICKEST but it has 1.2 more ponies than the ZX14.

The significance of this is whether it is true or false...... SUZUKI has the edge in the sales department with the aid of these top magazines giving praise. Suzuki always stays on top regarding performance on the sales floor.

WOW - A 1.2 HP advantage!

That must be good for a 1.2 inch win in the quarter (assuming equal riders - like THAT's gonna happen)!

It seems like the biggest argument from the Busa crowd (using distorted logic, but repeated over and over and over) is that it outsells the 14 by 2:1 or 3:1, therefore, it is the best bike.

Using that logic, the Ducati 1098 must be the biggest piece of junk on the planet, 'cause the Gixxers must outsell it by 100:1.

+1 me too. I like having something other than a "me 2" bike that everyone else has. But just another example of the media putting Suzuki on top by declaring the 'busa as King.

I'd have thought they'd run an unbiased precise shootout with several pro's and non pro's running/comparing each bike, then taking each to the same dyno same day, and more testing, before claiming either the 'busa KING or QUICKEST bike.

Well it really doesn't matter to me what they have to say about it .. What i know is it going to take one hell of a lite weight rider with skills like mine to get to the finsh line before me ...

But one good thing the story will do is every busa owner will now want to race me because the Magazine said the Busa is king !!! It has to be true doesn't it ???

What do you think the margin for error is on that dyno that they tested on (1.2hp, that's a joke)? What minor mods could one do to produce an additional 1.2 hp? Miss one meal maybe to make up for all that excess hp?? I don't care what the mag says, I wouldn't drive a bike that looks like that. I also don't want a machine that the masses like and buy.

Does it specify what year ZX14 they tested? And were they tested the same day at the same track and dyno? Inquiring minds want to know.....................

Magazine's always show preference to who advertises the most in their rags. Say good things so we can sell bikes and we will advertise more in your mag. Lotsa BS and politics. It all boils down to who the pilot is and how willing they are to twist the throttle and ride it like they stole it. A good rider on a lesser machine will always out perform the bad rider that's scared of what they have and doesn't know how to use it. I have stomped many a busa ass with an 02 zrx1200 with a stock motor at the strip. The first 60 feet means everything. Catch me if you can!!!!! Talks cheap...let's race!!!!!!!!!!

good, i hope the 14 never has the hype that the busa has. anytime you talk to a nonrider about bikes, they all know the name busa. zx-what?

i like the busa, i've ridden them, but the 14 is a better bike in my opinion. the busa fan club will never entertain that notion.

Yeah, I was wondering about that too. They did not say which year ZX-14 they tested.... Here is the direct quote.

"....nearly a dozen more ponies than its predecessor--and 1.2 more than the last Kawasaki ZX-14 we tested."

They know how to sell mags.....

Busa is still an ugly POS...

Like was said earlier, magazines will declare whatever advertises more as the best... Just look at every magazine out there and you will see Suz is advertising the Busa hard in them all. My opinion is because they are afraid of the 14 and they have to try and keep sales up.

I will be running a bone stock 08 Busa against my bone stock 07 zx14 this Saturday. I weigh 205 and he goes about 195. Probably a little more experience at the strip goes my way, but we will see. Hopefully the weather holds out and there will be no cheating. Bently, can you post a pic of the Busa axle position? That way I can tell if he has dropped a tooth.
