Happy new year and Merry xmas from me!
Just sending out best wishes to my other disconnected familly
I have not been around much, ...out in the garage tweaking, or else riding my new sled!
Anyway.... cheers everyone.

Lyle, I'm looking for a sled for next winter. I wanted an 08 Z, but it seems that 07 was the last year of production for that model and now all we get is the 151 HP MXZ? Can you shed some light on this?
BTW, Happy new year to you and your family as well! Hope 08 is a very successful year in your business venture and your life!

Hey Steve!
I bought the 151 HP XP 800 MXZ Renagade...
It's actually quicker till about 95 MPH than my buddies Mach 1000 MXZ... the discontinued model.
With the new XP platform being 65 lbs lighter, the 1000 will become obsolete.
They had problems with the 1000's fuel injection.
Arctic cat makes a 1000 still, and of course yamaha has the RTX and Apex 1000 cc 4 strokes.
For a machine to just hop on and ride I'd recommend the yamaha's....
You know me though.... I'm a tweaker! LOL
I have already doen afew mods to the xp800, and it will still get a few more.
I am not going to get stupid with it though.... Its not like the 14.
If a streetbike dies on the side of the road someone will stop to help ya, or you can just roll it into the trailer and get it home to fix.
Riding a sled in the backwoods, if you have a mechanical failure -25C, 50 miles from anyone, making it out alive is good thing, and getting the machine home is a bonus!
Anyone who rides them hard is having issue with the belts on the XP. Aftermarket clutch will be ordered out tomorrow for mine.
It totally depends whjat style of riding and terrain you want.
Groomed trails, super reliable, low maintenance, geta Yami 4 stroke.
Boondocking, moguls, ungroomed trails, ok with wrenching... get a 2 stroke.
The 4strokes still are 75-100 lbs heavier, but on groomed trails you will never notice it.
Unless all the sleds I've raced were dogs, the XP800 is the quickest stock machine made from 0-90 mph.
I have only been beat by machines with 1500-$2000 worth mods so far to about 100 MPH
The power to weight ratio is better than anything else made.
There aren't many places where I'd want to go faster, and usually the first one to the first corner on the trails stays in front , so the XP800 is good for me.
It pulls as hard as my zx14 does from zero to 80 mph....
LOL the ski's dangling in the air till 80 mph! LOL
It weighs 435lbs compared to the 550 lb yamaha's
The xp800 is like a GSXR1000 (except very comfortable)
the Yamaha's are more like a Busa or zx14. brute top end power, but weight hurts accelleration somewhat.
My friends 121" apex has been GPS verified at 122 MPH.... but it takes along time to get there, and not many places to use that top speed.
Pm me your number if ya want to talk a bit.
I can send you to dootalk.com forums for all the info you can stand on the skidoo models,
or HCS forums for all models of sleds
Cheers!

I have much to think about; reading your post sheds some serious light on my thoughts for a future ride. It's been a long time since I've owned one and have to think about what's going to be more practical. I'll send you my number and give me a call or let me know where I can call you to chat. You're the Ski-Doo god for me...need your input. Thanks for the detailed post!
