Recently purchased my ZX-14 / Tall rider

Has been a few years since I rode consistenly. I sold a beautiful 1991 Mustang GT Vert all powered out. Wanted a new one, but at 37 why do I need a $600 car payment....thought to myself, let's find a bike for "my" time during good weather. I am 6'7 at 280. Looked at the Busa and there was NO WAY it was even a comfortable fit. Sat on a few 750's, 1000's. Looked and/or felt like a circus clown. The 14 fit well. Not perfect, but well and rideable. I trailer it home next week from a the dealer in New Jersey that gave me a good deal. 2007 with 1 mile for $9,300. A good friend, basically a "brother" is letting me use any of his bikes that are not the 14's size to reacclimate myself to the 2 wheel world. I can't wait. Very excited to be back in the club of riders. Just wondering if anyone my size has any mods that get the legs lower. I just fit under the tank cut-outs. YES, I was dead set on getting a sport bike, not a cruiser. Also, any good jackets/brands for tall riders? Hard to find long shirts that fit well...arms way too long. Couldn't really find much online in tall category. Big accessory dealer local that I need to visit. Can anything be done with footpegs to lower or slide back at all? Thanks in advance.....Chris

I am 6'4-6'5 but i have short legs, I have heard that corbin makes a peg lowering kit for the 14 Vortex makes a set of rearsets that allow you to lower the pegs a little but they are pricey. As far as a jacket go to www.newenough.com they have a big and tall section

Welcome! At 6'7 the Mustang would be a worse fit than you riding a literbike...lol I'm 6'2 and Mustang's are a TIGHT fit. Low roof, short leg room and all.

Leg room wasn't too bad. The fact the seat back adjustment was limited due to top compartment made it a church pew for me. But with the mods it FLEW!! Loved the car. Sold it to a friend so I can still see my baby. He threw a supercharger on it and has blown it up 2 times now. Boys with toys!

The buells will lower the pegs to one level but aren't adjustable for rider position such as the VORTEX. Plus if I understand correctly drilling is required. Much cheaper solution than rearsets though I suspect

I'm 6'5" with very wide shoulders, long arms/torso. I have had the hardest damn time finding jackets that fit me properly since, as you know, the categories go: tall and skinny, or short and fat. No tall and fat -err I mean 'big boned' Until I bought my Power Trip leather jacket, the "Street Unit" from Newenough.com for $150 out of the closeout section. Shoulders are perfect, arms are even a tad long for me if anything. Best fitting jacket I've ever had, riding or not. I will post back tonite or tomorrow with my size, I forgot. But I did order it one size larger than I needed just in case. Shouldn't have; now I know. It's nice when clothes are actually what they say they are... Oh yeah, it's a heavy gauge leather, thick yet with that 'just' broken in feeling. Venting is simply amazing, wore it in 95 degree days (in washington state that is friggin hot) all the way down to 45 degrees with only a T shirt, was fine at 30 degrees with long johns. Thats a huge spread, and even in nasty stop and go traffic mid day summer, I still didnt have a problem with the jacket, matter of fact it worked better than my "summer" textile jacket from Joe Rocket. I would assume the rest of there line is equally impressive. Just add hard armor and voila!

I had a '93 LX 5.0 geared at 3.73. And a '98 yellow GT. The newer ones are HORRIBLE for body room for me and I'm 6'2. I'm practically laying down so my head don't hit the roof.

Enjoy the 14...it's perfect bike!

I would assume they will pull my legs down further from the tank cutouts? I am right near the top but not over.

My vortex rearsets allowed me to drop the pegs about 1.25 ", and you can move them back another 1/2 inch or so.
The pipe runs so close to the pegs that I could not adjust them back and down any further, without my boot interfering, and actually resting on the pipe.
