Brake Noise?

Any suggestions for fixing brake noise? My front brakes squeal after riding for 10- 15 minutes. I come up to a stop light going about 10-15mph & I get a squeal from the front end without the front brakes applied. When I pull away from the light or going through my neighborhood, again going 10-15 mph the squeal is there constantly if I stay in that range.
Items I've checked: Brake pads, rotor warp/ runout, sticky calipers & Master Cyl. Any other ideas?

That is a harmonic vibration with the brake pads. If the bike is fairly new your calipers are really clean and the post the pads ride on are dry as a bone and you have a metal on metal situation with the vibration. Some crud developing in the caliper usually takes care of the problem and or you can smear a very light film of moly paste on the post. Hope this helps

Thanks for the ideas, the bike has over 11k miles. I've only experienced this for the last 2-3k. I will grease the bolts & see what that does on the next ride. Don't know when that will be though it's 22 degrees outside right now.

+1. My back brake did the same (never used it much). I started using the back more heavily coming up to lights etc, and the noise has started to go away on it's own. Try getting on the brakes a bit harder and getting them nice and warm. See if that helps.

same type thing here. Just hit 2500 miles when it started, but mine does it when I apply the brakes very lightly to moderately. all pads are showing good amounts left, but it sounds like squeel tabs...

Just turned 3,000 miles over the weekend and mine started doing it just before I got back home... without the front brake being applied. Only thing different from any other rides is that we ended up riding in an area where it had rained just before we arrived, so maybe I picked up a little road grime on the pads from the mist off the roadway.

only prob i ever had with my 14 brakes is they performed so well. I never even put steel braided lines on the front of that bike. and beleive me, my front brakes caught hell in the mountains and coming off the FL long bridges as well.

Now that you mention it qwick, they started squeeking after I rode in the rain for the first time, and have numerous times since with weeks inbetween sitting in the garage. Every damn time I think its not gonna rain and I pull it out it rains on me miles from home.

Must be related, I think I'll pull'em and hit the bads and rotors with 220 grit sandpaper to reseat them. Because it is SO annoying on a brand new bike!

Steve: thought the brakes are very high quality, stopping my weight plus its own pork has me noticing a bit of vagueness and sponginess near max pressure. Those braided lines are going to have to go on.. though it wont be stainless steel braided. Nylon is the current favorite I believe?

Squeeling is what I had to put up with when I use racing pads, I shouldnt have to with stock pads on a fairly new bike!

Hmm. Anyone here use HH pads on a 14 yet? If its gonna squeel, might as well grip bettter!

Mine started squealing with the brakes applied after riding to a weekend rally after a rain & the road mist got on them. If I pull the pads & take a wire brush to them it takes care of the noise & the brakes seem to bite better. I fought this problem on my KZ, I didn't think I would have to fight it on this bike too!

I can ride all the way home from work (about 25 miles) without applying my front brake, (don't try this in heavy traffic, hehe), and when I pull into the neighborhod the squeel is there, argh!!! It's driving me nuts!! The only thing I've been able to find when I pulled the calipers there was brake dust collected around the pistons, more than I thought there would be, I cleaned everything up & it went away for a while, but now it's back.
If you guys pull your calipers can you let me know if there's dust build up? My only theory is there's enough brake dust around the piston to prevent it from fully retracting, not enough to cause drag though.

Any thoughts?
