U4 MR9 and U4.2 fuels

I had run MR9 in my bike a few times and ran my best numbers on it .. I made the switch to U4 because of the cost of the MR9 was 110.00 dollars for 5 gallons Vs 65.00 for the U4 .. The old U4 ran numbers very close to the MR9 but at a cheaper price ... Now they have stopped making U4 and replaced it with U4.2 ....The old U4 was around 93 Octane Vs 100 Octane for the new stuff ... Our zx14s really love lower octane fuels and make a good bit more HP with it ... The U4.2 that i have been running has cost me some MPH in the 1/4 mile , while my ETs have only suffered a slite loss ... So i Email brock and asked about the U4.2 and what he told me was this > The U4.2 is junk , it screws up the map and goes way lean ..Not only that but it makes a mess out of your intake tract and valves ...He said to use MR9 and that the MR9 would clean all that U4.2 crap out of the system ...I just wanted to give you guys a heads up on these fuels so you don't run into the problems that i have been having with the U4.2 ..... Smokin...

Yes wee i did but 1/8 mile only ...This is the second time at the 1/4 mile with the U4.2.... And it is true that my MPH at the 1/8 mile was the same it really fell off in the 1/4 mile ...I run 124 to 125 at either track in the 1/8 mile ...Last night at the 1/4 mile i ran 124.60 in the 1/8 and only ran 148 in the 1/4 mile...Even in the summer heat i trap 153 to 154 and have been as high as 157 to 158 ... I was thinking the first trip to the 1/4 mile that my low MPH was a fluke and the MPH traps were wrong or my clutches maybe weak .. ...My second trip weeks later showed the same loss in MPH with newer clutches and Brock spacers !! Smokin..

I should add that Jesse zx14 set up just like mine with pump gas went 153 same night same lane ...

Wee if you mix it or have any pump gas still in the tank when you add the U4.2 you may not see a big loss in MPH like i did...Mine was pure U4.2 ....The reason i say that is BurnOut and Jesse both ran the U4.2 mixed about 50/50 with pump gas and they didn't lose any MPH ..They didn't gain MPH either .... Jesse has pure U4.2 in his bike at Gainesville race and his bike started stalling out and black smoking so he dumped it out and ran pure pump gas and that fixed the problem .. Ninaboy also lost MPH with U4.2 and then switched back to pump gas and gained back his MPH ..

I thought they discontinued making MR9? I've got about 2.5 gallons of U4.2 left, and 3 gallons of MR9. I never had 100% U4.2. 33% mostly. I'll use the last of my U4.2 now and clean everything out with the MR9.

HEY SMOKIN, Being ithe U4.2 is a higher octane, when 50/50 mixing it with pump gas wouldn't it be best to cut it with 87 octane????

got 2 time trials with my pump gas, thats all they allowed, then hazed the tire round 1, out.. Then the owner would not allow any time trials all day long, so I never got to try the U4.2. I drove 8 hours for 2 1/2 passes! what a waste. wee

Yea U4.2 does suck. I ran it in my 12 once and it ran ok speed wise but the bike started stalling and running like crap. I am not sure if there was any real gains. I watched Ryan Schnitz try to map my buddies Busa for U4.2 and he maxed out the injectors and it was still WAY lean. But.....It made my Craftsman leaf blower run like a raped ape!!!! And the smell was intoxicating!

I consulted with tech support at VP and they assured me that it would work effectively - basicall stating that if MR9 works then MR10 will also. I ran it at MAxton, Bonneville and Local Drag Strip. (acually both MR9 and MR10) - It worked out fine in all venues. Bonneville is well over a minute at wide open throttle in pretty serious heat - but also high elevation that tends to increase the octane performance - MAxton was a sea level - and 25 seconds WOT. The local drag strip of course just a short run through three gears for me (1500' elevation).... I have run it from mid forties to high nineties - tempratures that is - and all worked well - the only problem was paying for it - at $30 per gallon - and dumping the unused fuel at the end of the season - there went $250 down the drain - so to speak.

Not sure if this is true... but one of the local drag racers here was heard saying that the U4.2 fuel is best used with bikes running nitrous. Any truth to this?
