Turn on the key and wait for the Kawasaki logo to go off and the display to appear. Press and hold both buttons until the setup menu appears. Press the top button once to get to the set up screen. Tap the top button until the shift line is highlighted, then press the bottom button to scroll through the options. When finished, turn off the key.

Wow.....look it up in owners manual. Even tells you where the throttle is if you need to know that too.

Enjoy the 14... and don't mind the wise cracks on here... they are just giving you a hard time. Welcome... and most of your questions have been answered somewhere in the mega pages listed below the posts... however, you can't be expected to read through all of them... so that is why there is a search option here. If you have search option questions... just ask STEVEFL... he is more than happy to remind you of the need to search first... ask second. Otherwise enjoy... and pull the throttle plates.... (search)

Don't let these guys bug you. I purchased a used '06 that didn't have an owner's manual. Only bike I've ever had that didn't have room for paper under the damn seat.

hey thanks for the topic it help me out i too have a 06 14 and did not get a owners manual i do have a service manual ,but never got to the electical chapters. more into the cluth and throttlle bodies and removing anything to slow me down. point is i did not know i had a shift light or a launch light after owning a 12 for so long i never assume the 14 would have either. and i did find the program to activate the shift light , nice i feel i have reach the height of technology. i even found the settings for the launh light, problem is i cant seem to activate that light. so i again would like to ask for some help and advice in finding what i may be doing wrong.

WTF is a shiftlight? You shouldn't be looking at it anyways. Get to know your ride and your shiftlight is your ears, and body sensation. I never use any tach and I have a shiftlight too. You just KNOW when to shift when you KNOW the engine. Applies to cars too. You just know when the best shift point is.
...oh and ROY...what's your point? Good on you for getting $2,000 off. I would've too if the manual was that expensive...lol What does it have to do with me? nothing. Enjoy your ride.

why shouldn;t we look at shift lights? everyone knows when to shift by ear it's one of the first things you learn try telling that to the big dogs in the sport,i've raced without shift lights for years and i happen to think i'm more consistent and quicker using one and now i have two

Who said EVERYONE drag races? Shifting on a roadcourse or twisties is where you REALLY gotta know by ear. Going in a straightline...sure, you got no dangers as in turns or maybe animals in front of you, look at the light if you want.

not to get into a big pissing contest but were talking about the 14 and i have not heard about a 14 on a road course, need less to say if i'm on a road course i would not need a shift light and i had damn well know my bike but i still dont see the need to shoot anybody down for asking questions

Don't be such a softy man. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on here. Nobody is trying to be cruel on purpose. Take most of us a little more lightly. I respect your opinion. There are some that treat them just like any other bike and will ride them on a roadcourse, but most 14 riders just ride them on the street or out in the countryside instead of taking time to drag race constantly. Sure we all visit the dragstrip now and then, but constantly...not many of the buyers do. That was my point. It's all good man, I'm not trying to be cruel to him, just stating my opinion which others have and others will have your opinion too. It's just guys talking about stuff and helping eachother too. It's our hangout when bored too.
