does he know what hes talking about?

ok i just left bike night and they have free dyno night once a month.the first time i did 171 and it was real humid out.bike had almost 2 thousand miles on it.tonite it did 174 nice and cool out almost 4 thousand miles.the guy running the dyno tells me that i need to take my tre off and put the throttle plates back in cuz its robbing me of 10 hp.says the tre shouldnt make my dash read n all the time, and that they dont really do anything.what the hell is he talking about?here are all my mods.full yosh, tre,pc,flies out, aftermarket filter.no custom map yet.my friend that works at the kawi dealer tuned it.i noticed alot of guys have almost the same mods and are making 185.does he know what he is talking about?im just gonna pay 25 dollars and take my bike to my friends shop and have him put it on his ,since he knows his shit.thanks for any input.

You don't need the TRE if you allready have the flys out ...174 is a great number for the mods you have ...You could see a bit more HP with a custom map...

No problems removing it ..BUT you should get a custom flys out map ....I'm sure someone on this website may have what you need for a Map .. Ask around it may save you some cash.. ...Smokin..

My homemade "Qwick Pipes" and a custom map by Brock pulled 172.85hp with the flies still in on a 2007 ZX14. I ran my bike (2006 with 2,600 miles)) on a dyno a few weeks ago using my pipes, the stock Kawi map & PC3 with the flies still in and it ran 171hp . A stock 2008 ZX14 went before me that same day and had 169hp. Not sure if that helps any for a comparison.

You guys missed it -- the tuner said put the flies back in and remove the TRE cuz he was loosing 10HP. Tuner's a DORK! The guys are right though, if you have the flies out, you don't put in a TRE008...because you'd get no change over the flies out with it; it is only designed to emulate 6th gear mapping and screws up your shift indicator in the process, leaving it stuck in 6th all the time. All it does is open the flies early on the 14, but removing them completely will give you more power -- and at lower RPM's too.

Fire that TUNER...he knows nothing about 14's and probably less about other bikes...

Sorry FBA but your wrong. There is 2 different TRE's out there, one for flies in and one for flies out. the flies out TRE keeps it in N (nuetral) so that you get rid of the decel popping by adding fuel on decel. It's an emissions thing, in gear they measure it but in nuetral they don't. Kawi would have added fuel in gear if you could have but it all comes down to emissions from the factory. The 006 is for flies in and the 008 flies out if my memory is correct. DO NOT install the 008 while your flies are still in, will do nothing at all.

Well Sticks -- everyone's allowed at least one mistake and you just made yours, so next time, I'll blast ya -- LOL

TRE006A is for flies out, not 008, unless they've changed the model number as of today. My original statement still stands.

You might want to check out the TRE site -- which I won't post the link to, because everyone here thinks Ivan's a fucking dick (which he is), but if you know the TRE so well, you'll know the site too...(Google)

TRE sucks anyway -- nothing you can't build for about 1 cent...but if I want to lose my shift indicator, I'll be sure to install a TRE...:P

Ok damn I knew I should have double checked that lol. I have flies in still and bought the TRE off a guy here who said it was the one for flies in (006) but when I got it I found out it was the 008 one. I'll drop the flies next spring, just short on dough right now for the PCIII.

um!!! The 006 tricks the bike into thinking it is in 6th gear thus causing the flies to open early the 008 tricks bike into thinking it is in nuetral supposedly causes smoother transition from on and off throttle and gets rid of the decel the 008 should be used if you have the flies out the 006 should be used if you have the flies in.

TRE-006A - $60.00
2006 & 2007 ZX-14

Ummmmmm NO FBA. Can you say it again, I forgot what you said and I'm too lazy to scroll back up to your post. While you are at it, can you tell me where the sub-throttle plates are located at? I've looked all over and can't seem to find anything resembling a submarine on the bike. Damn Kawi... but it is pretty cool that they made a bike that can go underwater using it's submarine-throttle plates!

I just know some idiot is going to get belligerent about how it can't go underwater....

I remove about 2 TRE's a week from customers 14"s... the marketing of that POS really sucked a lot of people in. The best thing you can do is remove the flies, remove the metal backing on the stock air filter or install an aftermarket, install a good exhaust system and install a PC and map accordingly. Maps are available through the Dynojet website and then massage it in real good. You should see on average a 20 hp increase right away from the bottom to the top.
