Another 2008 ZX14 Review
Just posted today over at AMA Website.
Technically challenged here, don't know how to do the link, but here is the address:
www.amadirectlink.com/news/2007/zx14.
Good review...confirms what Lucky 14 and others have said about the positive changes.

I have no more peg feelers on mine...and it does "outlean" a ZX14 with the greatest of ease...did I just say that? I did -- LOL, but fuck me if it ain't the truth...:P

Okay, help me out. Why would they make a sport tourer that could outlean it's own supersport version?
P.S. try not to flame me too hard

Hey guys with bags ride hard too. I was on some twisties with my 04 zx10 and thought I was really doing somethng until two older guys on Goldwings passed me on the inside at what looked to me like double my speed. It was embarassing enough that I slowed down in order to not meet up with them on the other end. I just could not face the humiliation.

Sure it may out-lean the ZX14 as FBA said, but to claim the same rider can put it through the corners at the same speed as a litre bike is exaggerated and goes against the laws of physics.
You won't see the super sport classes changing from litre bikes to C14s :P

It leans in better due to higher CG I would bet, that however does not mean a bike 100 lbs heavier can carry the same speed through the corner though... physically impossible.

Steve, I won't debate that, because clearly, I'd lose. I've had 1000's, 600's etc...and I know the drill. Let me help you understand this though -- on the streets, under harsh conditions, the C14 will probably eat up the turns better than the litre bikes, because the suspension is nowhere near as firm or unforgiving. I'd bet a pro or semi pro racer could make a 1000/600 get around the turn faster than on a C14, yes, but for the non-racer under harsh everyday road conditions, like washboard roads, the C14 takes the crown. Can it get in and out of tight chicanes faster than a race bike? No. Will it it be more stable than a race bike under the same condition? Probably...
You'd be amazed -- but on the track, no question, the C14 will not touch a track bike.
I have a buddy who rides his GS in the streets, like a pro rides a litre bike on the track. It scares me just watching him do what he does, but he does not fuck up.
Put it this way, even if I'm wrong about what I just said, it takes bigger balls to make the 1000 hit the turns hard in the street, than it does to make the C14 do that, and that, I'm not wrong about. Remember, I am only talking about the street, NOT THE TRACK, STEVE.

Depends on the corner. Ideally, on the track, you'd be 100% right, but add the harsh conditions on the roads, like the bumps that make the bike chatter through the curve and everything changes. I'm saying that the suspension has everything to do with the speed of the turn. My 10R and R1 weren't the only SS bikes I've had and none of the others could do it better than those, but my C14 makes 'em all take a back seat to it, seriously, but I'm not talking track, where I know the C14 would fall flat on it's face. I'm only talking street. On a perfect road, the SS bike wins hands down, but we don't have any of those around Kweebec...LOL
