CompetitionCNC ZX14 head development...

As of Saturday the prototype intake port is ready for digitizing and the chamber is done.
It should be ready in about 2 weeks for dyno testing.

As for the Busa Stage 1 HV head... it's making 220+ hp on a 1397, with stronger midrange power than "other" ported heads. The Stage 1 HV is a street/strip head with good midrange. With more optimized cams, compression and squish I'm expecting 225-230hp from the 1397. Testing is being independently done by Steve and Bryan at Quantum Motorsports and is still in process. Different pipes are also being tested with this head. I'll have full data sometime this week on the exact combo with dyno sheets flow sheets engine specs etc. The head is being tested and compared to several other "well known" ported heads, both hand ported and CNC.

Stay tuned

Our new web site is under construction.... so here is a head data sheet.
I will know all the details of the engine setup this week and I'll post it for you guys.
But I believe it had megacycles x8 cam on the intake and the x5 on the exhaust.
I really want to see the 1397 with the x1 on the intake and x14 on the exhaust.

Smokin, I'm going as fast as I can buddy. Hang in there. Shit, you cant ride now anyways its winter. Winter is for tearing the engine down
Or are you one of the lucky ones that gets to ride year round in nice weather?

I gotta get the hell out of New England, winters suck here.

Nice, I wish it was 70 here all year. Well not really, I guess i should be carefull what I wish for.

I think this head and cam package will save a bunch of guys from having to upgrade to an 08. That is untill I have a head for the 08 guys.

Y2KZX12R, the HP numbers sound good for the 1397. 220 HP is avg for that kit. One things for sure, you can't out build a suzuki motor after market. The Busa heads just naturally flows better than the 14's. All the top engine builders that I know are only getting about 210 to 215 HP tops from the 1417 kit with pump gas. I really expected them to get more out of the 14 engine than that. Only Carpenter is advertising more, which of course is a business tactic. One of the guys who lives here in NC took his Carpenter built 1417 to Lee's Performance and it only dynoed 205. This is with the whole Carpenter package, Head port, cams, springs, 2mm J & E pistons. The works. That's disappointing.

In your estimation how much lowend power is lost by getting the head ported or going with a full kit as outlined above?

my road buddy has a 1397 all carpentar tune by him and everything, it made 226 on his dyno down here louisiana it made 206, but it ran a best of 8.81 in low 160 mph, so dyno numders dont mean everthing,

Like I had mentioned to others many times before, Carpenter really has a HP happy dyno because his numbers are always 15 to 20 HP higher than everyone elses. Of course every dyno is going to have some variances but like it was said earlier, dyno numbers aren't everything but it can be a good way to gauge what your bike's progress providing you are using the same dyno each time you change a mod.

This is why i want to get one of Y2KZX12R heads ...When i get one from him i will install it and test at the track .. I don't care what a dyno reads , i want to see track numbers ...My bike spits out the same numbers over and over and it will be easy to see the gains of a ported head ..Proof will be in the numbers ....Smokin..

Nice improvements on the head. Very, very nicely done spec sheet. Especially like the port volume info included!

Any 14 specs yet?

Not yet Larry..... Hang in there.

Heres the Busa dyno sheet.... We made every effort to have strong torque at the shift recovery rpm range for the 1/4 mile. It should make some excelent 1/4 miles times.
We'll be track testing it in January.

So hang in there, we need to evaluate the design, test, test, and retest before we will sell a CNC ported head to anyone. This head has to perform better than any other head you can buy, untill then its just another ported head.

I thought some of you might be interested in seeing a profile of a stock zx14 port.

The port is still in development....

Everyone wants some head!

Sounds good.
I guess I better remove mine soon and get it ready to ship!

When do you propose public services for the zx14 head to commence?

Will you guys be trying different cam combo's too?

An interesting note, the 08 heads are starting to roll in and the ports are the same ports as the 06-07.
So the stage 1porting for the 08 will be the same as the 06-07.

There is no access hole and plug for the cam chain tensioner on the 08 head. You would have to drill and tap the 08 head or use an 08 tensioner.
I cant say 100% that thats all you would run into but that and the larger fresh air port in the exhaust port is all I saw. But I havent completely evaluated it for a swap either.

I dont see why you would want or need to swap it thou. ???
