Rear sprocket??

Hey guys, I am gonna finally gear my 14 and i want to do the rear first, then the front later if it needs more. My question is that should i go 2 or 3 up in the rear. I am gonna go -1 in the front later. And also my local bike shop guy asked me if i wanted aliminum or steel. He said steel last longer. I weigh about 280lbs suited. My bike mods are listed below. Thanks in advance.

The flat-black (hardened) VORTEX I suggest, no matter which count you elect to go with.

Thanks Steve, I think i am gonna go with 43 rear and then later go to a 16 front seeing as that is what most people use on here, so it must work..

if you weigh over 250lbs 44 might be better, if not 43 will be fine

Yeah i thought that too, but the vortex book at my local shop only goes to 43 and most websites i have looked at are the same. I weigh a little over that non suited so I might need too. thanks.

if you weigh over 250 this thread may apply more than sprocket teeth counts

I am running a vortex 44 on my bike....
I weigh 200, so, I run 17/44, but might try 16/43 at the track too.... when it stops SNOWING!

If you go with a 44 tooth you will need a new chain as well..................you can run 16/43 without getting a chain.

My buddy lietoome is 285 and he uses 17/45 gearing for the street and 16/45 at the strip.

LOL
yuuup.
Get a new chain, this way you can run the axle back instead of allt hey up front...
any bit of wheelbase will be helpful!
16/43 will be a wheelie machine especially with a heavy dude hookin the tire!
