My buddy rides a bone stock zx14, weighs 110 lbs more than me
when we swap rides I barely pull him on roll on and only above 6000 rpm!
even with 100+ lbs mine pulls the stock zx14 below 6000 rpm

a piped geared no flies bike is worlds better than the stocker... almost enough to make up for 100 lbs. Thats zx14 vs zx14!

16-44 , +30 ft/lbs below 6000 rpm and 10-15 hp under the curve, 27 hp at redline is worlds away from stock .....

....and a stock zx14 will STOMP ....a piped Gen1 BUSA all else being the same.
I did it when mine was about 15 minutes old!

I really beleive, and would put money on geared and uncorked zx14 with 100 heavier rider vs piped busa.... might be close but the 06 zx14 mod +100 lbs will edge out the pre 07 busa.

which is what sticks was asking about initially.

Sorry

Didnt mean for this thread to get all this attention?!?!

Anyway, after some (allot) of deliberation I called brocks today to order a SMEG. I hoping its not too loud. I guess if I go fast enough it wont have time to hear it LOL!!! As far as the gearing Im going to start with one down in the front and go from there, I do go on the occassional trip so trial and error will surfice. I'll let you guys know the outcome.

Still waiting for the PCIII. I called PC today and they said (get this)
the guy on the line says its the same as the 06'/07' (BUT DIFFERENT).

Im like what???? What do you mean different?

quote: its the same, but the mapping is different??

okay- so will an 06'/07' work (even though they dont have the same part #??

No they wont work the, mapping is different..

Well you just said they are the same!

They are, but the earlier models wont work in the 08 cause the mapping is different...

At this point I gave up and said what ever, thanks for all the HELP!!!

I hope he was new, I was wanting to ask when the release date was but gave up. Oh by the way, dont bother calling Parts Unlimited for questions, its like talking to a DMV worker on the holidays???

I am sure I would have lost power down low but I added compression to make up for the difference. I picked up around 20 HP at the top milling the head and porting and polishing and had the cams degreed as well Not sure how much I picked up after adding the air filter and the adjustable timing sprocket b ut I would guess maybe another 5hp, coming sometime over the winter, I am thinking of adding some cams

Hey anyone here know how difficult it would be to drop an '08 14 engine into a '06? Just heard from my dealer that one of there first '08 14's sold was wrecked this last weekend, and the guy had no insurance! He was in the dealer asking what the engine is worth. Wonder if I should have followed that lead up?
Think the wiring harness would work? I know the computer is different, but I believe the sensors and there wiring harness is the same.
Anyone want to buy a 2K mile '06 engine?

Drop in, but you will need new harness( or part of it at least) due to dual injectors, and new ecm.
I have not seen the parts listings drawingsor manual for 2008 yet.
