2008 ZX-14 Performance Info
We have just finished exhaust pipe testing on the 08. First let me say that for some reason the stock bike is very rich from the factory. The bike we tested was down about 2 HP over the 06 and 07 bikes. We then installed a Power Commander and mapped. The results netted a 7 HP gain over the previous years. We then began pipe testing, the MUZZY M10 produced 189HP, and the new M14 produced 194HP. We then removed the Flies and put VP M11 in the fuel tank. Results where a very impressive 200.6 HP. The bike had 485 miles on the odometer. We have not tested the 08 Busa and can not make any comparisons.

Very Nice
Rob, did you test just the M14 pipe and Sidewinder without a power commander with flies in and pump gas???...How much HorsePower did you get???
I know the majority like to see a tuned HorsePower number, but I like to see a basic HorsePower number then a tuned number!!!
Thanks for all your help Rob!!!

Yes we ran with no mapping. The stock ECU is so rich that it was sensless to make any efforts with out re mapping.

Rob,
When will the M-14 be ready? Do you have any pictures of the new pipe?
Thanks,

Questions:
1. What is the base HP on the 06/07 14's on your dyno?
2. With the PC and mapped config, is the 7 HP gain over a stock 06/07, and if I do the math, is that a 9 HP gain over the base 08?
I do own an 08, so I have more than a passing interest here.

Rob - Thanks for sharing your testing results - very much appreciated - Do you prefer MR11 over MR9 and MR10? Did you still have the aircleaner in? those are very good numbers - where they adjusted via STD or SAE.
Thanks again for sharing your information.

Great work Rob, did you use the same Power Commander for the 08 as 06,07 or is there a new model out for the 08. Over 200 hp with a pc and a pipe thats Smokin!

Lets see here
Brocks 08 Busa makes 200 hp
Brocks 06 zx14 makes 197 hp
Muzzys 08 zx14 makes 200 hp
Guess we will have to flip a coin as to what bike to buy ....... lol..... ......Or we could just keep our old slow under powered 06 , 07 zx14s .....

I dunno Smoke, I think I can stick with the . . . . . . .RED 06' for awhile.
I think Kawi got it right for me the first time. Plus I kinda like the looks I get when I roll by on the :"BIG RED ONE".
But I'm still confused. I don't know whether they are staring at this gorgeous machine gracefully flowing past them and wishing they had one . . .
Or If it's because I make this damn thing look like a 600!!! LOL!!!
But as your average everyday rider, a few extra HP won' t make much of a difference to me.

lol...that's what i'm going to do....i can't justify buying a 08 yet for 5-10 horse. I'm thinking some head work and valve springs with adjustable cam gears and nitrous....

Hello Mr. Muzzy, can I call you Rob?
First of all thanks for the work that you are putting in to getting the pipe and set-up right for the 08. It does sound like there are enough changes to the motor and fueling to make it worthwhile. Like Lucky14 I already have an 08 ZX 14 (in the dark blue, very nice colour) and have been waiting patiently for Muzzy's to finish testing and figure out how to get the best performance from the new bike. I pre-ordered a Ti pipe with a Carbon tip and a PCIII from Burnaby Kawasaki, (my local dealer, very nice people) when I bought the bike. I talked to Dave Turner at your company about using an 07 pipe and PCIII on the 08 and he suggested that I wait until you had worked with the 08. From what I hear I am very glad I waited.
I will watch your company web-site for pricing and availability of 08 parts.
Thanks for doing what you do.

This is a great thread, thanks for your info., Rob!
I'm wondering why the factory '08 ZX-14 is mapped so rich compared to the '06/'07 - did Kaw do that in anticipation of customers rippin' the flies out? I wonder what the A/F ratios look like on a stock '08 minus the flies, or a piped '08 minus the flies... Also, isn't Kaw claiming the stock '08 has more HP than the stock '06/'07?

Maybe Kawi figured out the ram is working better than expected.
Rich on a dyno may not be rich on the street/track after a pipe is added.
