Newbie

Just came from the dealer, heres my new gal!! I've been on a busa for the past three years and thought it was time for change. I've been hanging around here as a guest for awhile to get information before I made my purchase, this is a great place to get information to make a decision. Only 8 miles, but its seems to be a good one.

Nice looking bike, dude! How about some more pics? And what are your impressions between the Busa and the 14... just curious.

Pics

I'll get some pics as soon as I can figure this site out. Too early to tell for a good comparo, but the overall ride and smoothness isnt in the same ball park. The brakes are (AWESOME), cant believe I thought the busa's were pretty good. Im sure the 08's are better, but Im coming off an 03 and they sucked compared to these. This 14 feels allot lighter even though its really not. I've not been over 4k yet letting her break in, but she feels really good to there so far. I'll do a better camparo once I get some miles on her.

Can you say....jealous?

Reward69:

Congrats man, that silver is really nice! I think you will see steady step ups in how she scoots as it breaks in. Everyone has their "break-in" style so do what works for you. For the record I hammered mine for the 1st time at 49 miles. Many here rode from the dealer to the strip or dyno. Enjoy!!!

You could not be more right when comparing to a 03 Busa. If you have a couple heat cycles in and about 100 miles let her rip already.

Let er rip today!

AWESOME!!! could sum it up, but here is a good comparo from my 03' busa. (a little info on my busa), yosh full system, PCIII, up one tooth in rear, the rest was stock no internals.

Overall the power is better, but different in the delievery. I take that its the secondaries that somewhat give it a neutered feel at times. This thing hits really hard at 7K, also it has a noticiably different feel in different gears at different rpms. The torque is allot better and the top end pull is very strong. I would think that the butterflies will probably go?

I'll wait till Brock works his magic to see what exhaust and mods are needed to awaken more of the beast within. I may go with a little more gearing, what do you guys like with the 14????

Handling- no comparison, this bike is rock solid and very easy to turn in. I already feel like a better rider with this thing. I didnt realize the busa's handling was as hard as it was to make turn. This thing is effortless, feels more like a litre compared to a big bike.

Brakes- This is the one thing thats taking the most to get used to!!! These are AWESOME, when I was told they were better than the busa (pre 08) I thought okay, but this is hard to believe how much better they are.

I am planning on pipe, PC and gear change at minimum. What pipe do you guys reccomend????

reward69, we welcome you to the board with open arms. Congrats on your new purchase. If I was to get an 08 14, it would be the silver one as well. I was reading a couple of your quotes and I couldn't help but to notice that in one quote you stated that you haven't been over 4K when Ninja_Knight asked you for a comparison to your 03' Busa, then a few post later you were explaining how the 14, "this thing hits really hard at 7K". You kinda contradicted yourself here. It's your bike. Nothing to hide here. My question is, have you laid into it yet or not?

Glad you are enjoying life with the 14....

Reward69:

All your early feedback is familiar. The 14 is a platform for whatever you want from a bike. Want to dragrace? Follow the path that Smokin, Wheelie and the other racers have and a few bolt-ons later you'll have a 8-second capable device. Many here are quite happy with Brock's pipes, SMEG, Gen3 and now Alien Head. Based on numbers I'd guess that's what you get the most support for. That said, I used a Leo Vince full system and recommend it highly. There are many "good" choices. Just depends on your preference. Good luck with it.

Welcome to the site and to Kawasaki ownership.

I run run a 40 tooth rear on my 14, up one tooth. I geared it that way for a top speed meeting last spring ( it went 203mph. Previously went 205.4 with 17/41 but that was a bit high for the road ) it's so nice to ride I just left it on, I don't do quarters so no problem there. I have had a TiForce system on my bike for the last 18 months, it makes decent power and looks good too.

fly removal, pc3 , ti force / orient or Brocks pipe, remap, -1 frt sprocket (16), and speedohealer will unleash the beast!

When I surpassed 7K was the two days following after putting about 70 break in miles. This was a rip to about 9K and decellerate to help seat rings. I know break in is a hot topic as to all the contradricting advice. I personally like to take it easy for the first 50 to 75miles and then gradually raise Rpms in short burst and letting decerlate to help seat rings. After a hundred or so I usually let her go as normal. I also read the articles on Brocks web site about break in. I feel in any one would know, he should.

Been doing allot of thinking on an exhaust and would like to go with a carbon can for the look. I think the silver would look better with the carbon can. My wife rides allot and doesnt like allot of noise, so thinking of a traditional can appossed to a meg. Whats your thoughts on the yosh TRC thats available?? (I saw some dyno charts on Ivans web site and the yosh made the most HP and Torque of the 4 systems tested. Mainly the torque through out the rpm range was better with no major dips. They tested the yosh, Tiforce, stock, and muzzy I think. I also am considering the Muzzy, but agian I would rather go with the brocks or M10 or 14 but the noise with the wife and also the local PO PO are starting to crack down on loud bikes. I live in a mainly retirement/upscale area that doesnt like all the noise from where they come from!!! No, Im not that old to most, 38 and grew up here, but the community has changed over the past 20 years and you must adjust. thanks so far for the advice though.
