New member (Busa owner, but seriously thinking about buying the 08 ZX14)
Hello everyone!!!
I am an Orthopaedic Surgeon in South Carolina who loves motorcycles and currently own a 2004 Blue/Silver Busa with bolt on mods and tuned by Lee's Performance Center. I am planning to buy either the 08 ZX14 or the 08 Busa. I have been reading and enjoying your forum for a couple of months. I have found it to be educational and fun to read.
I appreciate that the vast majority of you are mature and helpful (there is always some trolls on every forum). It nice to see guys like Bently (who owns a Busa, but respects the ZX14) is welcome and can share his information with all. It is also nice to see ZX14 owners, like Smokin, who respect the Busa as well (okay, maybe not that tail section). I personally think both bikes are great and you can't go wrong with either one.
That being said, I like the ZX14 more and more every day. I went to my local dealership the other day and saw the 08 Black/Orange busa and the 08 silver ZX14 side by side. I have to admit that I wasn't crazy about the ZX14 when it first came out (those grills), but since they painted the grills, etc. it is one sweet looking bike.
I look forward to learning more about the ZX14 from all of you. Thanks and have a nice day/night!!!

Ya And I love how fast and Smooth the 08 Busa is and it took 12.8 miles to figure that out!
But really pick the one you like the best because in the end mod for mod you won't see much difference either way. But do yourself a favor and remember the new Busa rides nothing like the old one.

Welcome Blaze. U can't go wrong with either bike. They are both at the top of the game. If you want to broaden your experiences with bikes and since you already have the Busa, go ahead and do yourself a favor and try the 14. You won't be disappointed.

Welcome...How do you like...blue?
Blaze:
In the end, it comes down to whether you are ready to try something different. Each bike delivers super performance so that's the easy part. The beauty of the 14 is you just won't see yourself coming and going everywhere you go. What you do get ..stupid performance and comfort.
By the way I can make you a great deal on a "lightly" used (smile) '07.

It would have to have been .10 faster then the Busa or I would not have done it. But it would look good in lime green.

Welcome, you and I seem to have the same dilemma. I've owned both makes of bike and I will most likely change my 2006 ZX-14 in the new year. I don't think there will be a whole lot of difference between the standard bikes, although my bikes don't stay standard for long. For me it will be a question of how easily I can find more power. I already have an exhaust system and power commander, etc on my 06 Kawasaki and I will return the bike to standard when I sell it, retaining the parts. Trouble is I think the 2008 Hayabusa is a great bike and it looks really good in the Orange. This is a "problem" many folk would love to have, which shall I choose, the 2008 Suzuki or Kawasaki ?

I tell you I always like the Busa, but here in Cincinnati that is what everyone rides. Both bikes are great bikes and as others have said you can't go wrong either way, but we would or I would be glad to welcome you to our ZX14 owner family.

I had an 06 14.
I wanted something "new."
I "agonized" between the 08 14 and the 08 Busa.
In the end, I traded for the 08 14.
I'm loving it!
The good news - even with all the "hating" on the boards - there is no "wrong" choice - they are both awesome!

Welcome Blaze... I am impressed, an Ortho that rides. I have known a few and they are always telling me, that I and those like me are crazy to ride.
I have around 20,000 on my '06 14 and it is still my favorite bike ever. I ride the fast sweepers and some tight stuff in Az. I am a bigger guy so Drag racing is not really my thing.
Question ?? What is your riding style or preference. Straight and fast or curves ...or just styling on a Sat nite.
I do have some miles on an '04 Busa, good bike, But... my preference is thye 14 for.. Looks / Brakes / Handling and my Kawi support friends ( some good people that work for Kawi.)

welcome.
i have been owner of 3 busas: 2000 silver/blue,2002 black le, and 05 red/black. in between i had 2 zx12r.had 06 zx14 and now 07 zx14.
busa is hell of bike but i wanted some changes and that is why i bought zx14.
you can't go wrong with either of them.
but personally my next bike won't be zx14 because i like some changes.
if you have a busa already why don't try something different in same class. you won't be disappointed with zx14, it is hell of bike.
good luck with your decision.

Hey Doctor, I'm a mentally disabled immature troll, but I do have moments of lucidity, so I offer this for your consideration:
quote: I have had just about everthing too. I like them all but for different reasons. I went with the 08 busa for one reason. It was easier to turbo it than the zx14. I know this won't go over well here but the 14 is an all around better feeling bike. The power is great and it is like riding around on a couch, much like the zx11. It handles well for a big bike too. I don't think the FZ1 is comparable to a busa or a 14, it is just a different animal.
If you are wanting the most comfortable, great handling, and excellent power give the 14 a try. You will love it. Not to mention the power delivery and the transmission are so smooth you will catch yourself in the triple digits and not even realize it
Just my 2 cents..
That says a lot!!!

I used to have a picture of a Busa over my bed but couldn't get laid. I had frequent problems with pimples and my toilet wouldn't stop running. My love life was nil and I could tell you about every episode of ER and who was guest starring on Oprah. I got no respect from my cat and my glasses always fogged up whenever I saw a pretty girl on a billboard.
One day while getting a manicure, I saw a beautiful bike through the store window. After I paid my bill, I went outside and walked up to this gorgeous machine. It's rider came by and told me it was a ZX-14, the fastest production bike in the world. It was love at first sight. The next day I took the cash out from under my water bed and went out and bought one of these mighty machines. The immediate transformation was amazing. While sitting on top of the seat I suddenly felt like a man's man. I looked around. People on the sidewalks were looking at me. One walked up and asked if I was the man that played James Bond in the movies. For the first time I was getting admiration and respect. There's something special about this machine. A pretty woman walked by and even gave me her telephone number!
The first week of ownership, amazing things started to happen. First my pimples went away and my toilet suddenly stopped running. Next, I threw my cat out of my fifth story bedroom window and called the cable company to add Speed and the Playboy channel to my subscription. The hell with ER. I was now hitting the late night hot spots with the girls that were asking me out. The second week of riding my 14 I finally passed my Medical Boards that I had previously failed six times. Today, after only three month of owning my bike, I'm a Board Cerified Gynecologist with a three month waiting list. And they are all good looking! My life couldn't be any better. Today I carry around a can of bug spray and whenever I come up to a Busa on the street, I whip my can and spray it all over. In conclusion, I can't tell you how much this bike has changed my life. Oh, and did I tell you... I grew another three inches?

Yes, all of my collegues really give me a hard time. They say, "so you put people back together again after they crash their bike and you still ride one". I say, "I also put people back together again after they crash their car and I still ride in one". I understand their point, but 99% of them have never owned a bike and just don't understand.
I think if you wear the appropriate attire, expect the unexpected, know your limitations and always respect your bike you will be fine. The vast majority of accidents and severity of injury occur from the lack of these 4 things.
