Try to cut your caloric intake 20% and eat more protein, less carbs. If your physically ok some cardiovascular exercise will burn calories and raise your metabolic rate as well. I'm an ex professional athlete and I had to stay on top of this for years. As I got older{i'm 43 now} my metabolism slowed and it absolutely becomes more difficult. Also drink lots and lots of water. Good luck.

Take a look at a metabolism booster...

Bently:

I have had very good success with a metabolism booster called Thermo Boost you can find it in GNC. For us older guys it helps alot to speed up the calorie burning process. Ditto on what the others said about water and exercise. For the record I have gone from 198 to 168 since last December to get back to the lean state of fitness I had in college. I am 45 now.. Good luck and with it and at the track next year.

Wow, that will surely burn calories. Congratulations on the weight loss. It hasn't been easy for me, but I would like to lose more. My wife weighs 105 to 108 normaly, and she whips me pretty good when we do roll on's with the 12R's......... I will say one thing though, the 20 or so lbs I have lost sure cost a lot less than BST Wheels...............lol

Thermogenics such as pills and etc are bad for you. All they do is load you up with Guarana (caffeine) and other stimulants. Ofcourse you will lose weight on them because they speed up your heart rate and increase your blood pressure while doing it. I say you're going to die someday eat what you want in moderation and excercise. There is no CHEAP safe way to lose any weight. It's hard work.

Oh yeah...that looks like a very light shoulder press Toolman. She's only just a bit over 115-120 lbs probably.

Some of you might laugh, but I did the Nutrisystem diet for 3 months and went from 208 to 174.
It works. Low fat-high protein foods, smaller portions. The first couple weeks really suck because like most people - you're used to over-eating, but once you get used to the correct portion size, it's no big deal. Just like the commercials, you eat 4 times a day and the food really is good. Basically $300 a month. Plus you can have as much salad and veggies as you want. So if I just HAD to eat more, I'd fix another salad.

34 lbs in 3 months, I couldn't be happier with the results! (i just realized i sound like an infomercial)

Thermo Boost....what did it do for me?

Cajunboyz:

1st off, whatever supplement you consider make sure it works with whatever your existing health situation is because I am cerrtainly not a doctor. I have had no problems with this supplement, but would suggest you check for you own peace of mind. Now then, for me the Thermo Boost was not a "magic bullet" it was more like the missing piece. Over the past year, I changed my diet pretty completely, stepped up the exercise, drink water like a fish and the Thermo Boost just pushed it all over the edge. It helped with energy for work outs, and to burn off the weight 3-4 lbs at a time and keep it off. I experienced a steady gradual reduction, not some "radical"results in 2-3 weeks. Being properly hydrated is probably the biggest thing after diet and exercise. You might be shocked at how much water you SHOULD drink to do that versus whatever you do now. I was. Hope that helps. Lastly, Bently since this is your thread, good luck with it all and for the record, I am 6'.

Thermo Boost....I forgot.

Cajunboyz/Bently:

I take Thermo Boost in combination with vitamins and 2 other supplements, all from GNC that are specific to my personal health situation and the total cost for all my stuff is $100/month. Good luck with whatever you do.

Craig, that is AWESOME! But I got upset when you posted $300/month! I guess it's not that bad since it replaces ALL grocery store food right? I won't have to buy at the grocery right?

I would probably agree there. My wife wants chocolate this, fried this, etc... She isn't 30 with slowing metabolism like me. I went from 225lbs to 260lbs in 1 year after we got married back in '05 and I've been staying there. I have much better endurance and strength since then though since I've been running and lifting like crazy at my local gym. I would like to drop 40lbs! I'd be so freaking happy.

I was a personal trainer / bodybuilder for 10 years. I was 5'4" in seventh grade and weighed just over 200 lbs - lost it all and then regained the weight (and then some) in my early 20s after getting married. I ended up losing over 205 pounds total ( I went from 225 to around 160 and the wife weighed in around 140 :-). But all kidding aside, the best way to permanently lose weight (in a nutshell) is:
#1 Proper Nutritional changes - ( and can still eat what you like but maybe less of it).
#2 Cardio, cardio, cardio
#3 Weights last if trimming up is primary goal.
