One tooth down in the rear is nothing significant in a 1/8 or 1/4 mile, plus it gears the bike slightly higher, not lower which means that he won't be able to come out as quick as if he was down 1 tooth in the front, which most people do but take a tooth out of the rear will give rider slightly more top end, which is not important in an 1/8 mile track. If one tooth down in the rear is what Rickey did, that's kinda odd. Most people who drag race either go up however many teeth in the rear or down one in the front, if not both, which allows the bike to come out the hole quicker. Maybe they're are trying to keep it from wheeling too much in the front since it's on stock wheel base.

I know that -- thats why I mentioned he was down a tooth in the rear......so if he had left it stock, he'd be pulling harder out of the hole. As you said, less chance of wheeleing, hence his extra weight too. That was my point.

I with ya. I wouldn't think that Rickey G. would be worrying about wheeling. Take the extra weight off and put it back to stock gearing, I bet he makes a faster pass, but he's the pro so...maybe he's just experimenting.
This goes to show you how fast and impressive that "08" 14 is, STOCK!

One tooth down in the rear moves the axle back ever so slightly.........................and that extra weight is up front somewhere I would presume. Both would help keep the front down...........
All the little things add up to good et's............right smokin?

Yes Sir you are correct ...Brock did the same thing to his 06 zx14 , he went to a 40 tooth on the rear to clam down the wheelies .. 21 pounds on the front end really helps ...Smokin..
