Drilling out stock exhaust

Has anyone done this and are there any benefits.

There was a guy at my local track this weekend, he had cut the stock cans, removed the cats and shortened the cans also, pc, it ran ok, he was maybe 175lbs and rode fairly well, bike was running 140 to 141mph that day, two other stock bikes were doing 136/137mph, but my 14 was doing 151mph with Brock Gen 3 system and standard oval Ti can, pc, ign module, 17/40, I'm 205lbs suited, there's no sub. for a full system if you want max. hp.

i also did; totally cut out the 2 top tiers, inserted a pipe packed em , shortened em 2 inches; sounds better than anything i have heeard; for my purposes.......im pleased as punch.
